Owner report 11697370 · 2025-11-04 (November 4, 2025)

Observed repeatedly while operating at highway/interstate cruising speed, with adaptive cruise engaged: any changes in road texture - concrete to blacktop, between different types of blacktop or concrete, separation joints, etc - such as when crossing a bridge, crossing state lines, entering open-road toll plazas, etc - results in a sharp lifting of the throttle and at times will also automatically engage the brakes. This results in rapidly and unexpectedly cutting speed by 10-15 mph before automatically resuming set speed 1-2 seconds later. …

Owner report 11704863 · 2025-12-13 (December 13, 2025)

On November 12, I was on the highway in the right lane, there was a car about 4 car lengths ahead of me in my lane and the car in the middle lane was quite a distance ahead. Just as I got in the middle lane, BOOM! the vehicle's CMBS malfunctioned and slammed on the brakes - no warning, visual or audible, just came to an abrupt stop. Thank goodness no one was behind me or I would have been dead. It was an instant whiplash effect as well And then as I was then merging back into the right lane to exit the highway, it did it again! There were …

Owner report 11743032 · 2026-06-09 (June 9, 2026)

My 2026 Honda Odyssey was stopped at a traffic light with Auto Idle Stop engaged. When traffic was ready to move, the engine appeared to restart for about half a second and then shut down. The vehicle then shifted itself into Park and would not resume normal operation. The battery warning light was illuminated. Pressing the engine Start/Stop button caused all of the screens/displays to turn off briefly, but they came back on in the same failed state. The vehicle was disabled in traffic at an intersection. Owner report 11750598 · 2026-07-15 (July 15, 2026)

I own a 2026 Honda Odyssey Elite. On multiple occasions, the Auto Idle Stop system shut the engine off while stopped at a traffic light. When I released the brake pedal to proceed, the engine failed to restart, leaving the vehicle disabled in traffic. I was forced to shift the vehicle into Park and manually restart the engine using the Start/Stop button. This defect has occurred multiple times. I first reported the issue to my Honda dealership on June 2, 2026. After two visits where the dealer was unable to duplicate the concern, I captured th…

Owner report 11744414 · 2026-06-16 (June 16, 2026)

The Auto Idle/stop caused my engine to stall not once but twice in the past few weeks while on a major highway. Light turns green and my car won't start back up. I have to let the car sit for a second then restart the car while traffic is flying past me on this highway. Absolutely ridiculous that my brand new car is having these issues and that I am unable to turn this feature off permanently.

Owner report 11762021 · 2026-09-03 (September 3, 2026)

While stopped at a red light, the Auto Stop/Start system shut off the engine as designed but then failed to restart it. The vehicle remained stalled in the intersection for several minutes while I attempted to restart the engine manually. This left the vehicle and my family stopped in traffic, creating a potential safety risk from surrounding vehicles. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to this incident or after.

Gasoline fuel vapors enter the passenger cabin of my 2026 Honda Odyssey while driving. The problem began XXX, the day after a dealer oil change, and has recurred repeatedly, growing stronger each time. It is worst in high ambient heat (100 to 116 F), with the fuel tank above half full, and after extended idling or stop-and-go driving on a heat-soaked engine. It initially occurred only after idling but now also fills the cabin at cruising speed. No warning lights or messages precede it. On XXX in about 116 F heat, the cabin filled with gasoline…

The auto on/off while idling will randomly fail. The car stalls, all emergency lights turn on and the car won’t start for a few minutes. This has occurred at stop lights and in traffic after coming to a complete stop and the car turns off when idling. The car is only 6 months old. The first occurrence happened at the 3 month mark and has become more persistent. I’ve had my battery checked and that was not an issue.

VEHICLE IS PROHIBITED FROM SHIFTING TRANSMISSION OUT OF PARK WHEN ENGINE IS NOT RUNNING. IF VEHICLE ENGINE SHUTS OFF AND WILL NOT RE-START AND VEHICLE IS IN UNSAFE LOCATION (I.E. IN A ROADWAY), THE PUSH-BUTTON TRANSMISSION PROHIBITS SHIFTING THE CAR TO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO PUSH IT OUT OF THE ROADWAY OR TO LOAD ON A FLATBED TOW TRUCK. THIS IS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS IF THE VEHICLE IS PROHIBITED FROM BEING MOVED IF IT IS UNABLE TO START THE MOTOR BUT THE VEHICLE STOPS IN A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS LOCATION (RAILROAD TRACKS, INTERSECTION, ETC).

New ex-l model van with about 800 miles on it began to permeate the cabin with a gaseous odor coming from the air vents in recirculate mode and could be smelled from the outside of the vehicle as well. Initially smelled it when at idle after a 150 mile one-way trip. The vehicle had to be turned off to make the smell stop. It started again upon return and got stronger when the a/c was put in fresh air mode.

After driving for only 2000 miles, the car suddenly went into limp mode where the engine shut off. All system warning lights came on in the vehicle and we could not drive the car. The car was towed to a nearby Honda dealer and was inspected. The accelerator pedal was replaced and all error codes were cleared. While we were fortunate that this did not happen on the highway or where there were other vehicles, it is very concerning that a brand new vehicle malfunctions in this way. Our AIS has not worked in most of the 3 weeks since we purchased it. We went on (joined) various Odyssey forums and apparently this is a known defect that Honda Corporation is denying (and can't fix). Som think it is a wrong battery in the vehicle issue or defective vehicle charger issue. Others have found a temporary workaround by opening the hood to reset it. Honda is ripping off customers for an AIS system that is defective. A class action is in order.

The back-right passenger side door was opened by pulling on the outside handle after a hobbled passenger was cautioned that the door was going to slide open and moved a few inches away from the vehicle to allow for that. The door required more clearance than either of us anticipated. The tail gate automatically closes on us due to failed strut to support it. This is a repeatable process. When open the tail gate, it will closes automatically - very dangerous when the user (me) is trying to put stuffs in or out of the trunk. It closes on my head a few times. Went to dealership, they said this is a common issue where the strut holding up the tailgate failed and had to be replaced. It is currently not under recall, so I must pay fully for it to be safe.

My child was inside the minivan in the 2nd row and pressed the close door button on the sliding door while holding their other hand on the door jamb near the handle on the interior frame. The door slid closed and smashed their hand hard, automatically latching the door with their hand crushed inside the door. This is possible because their is a pinch sensor, but it is only on the outside edge of the door. So anything in between the door and the frame on the interior edge can be crushed hard without any sensor to detect and prevent it. I tested …

When inspecting this new Odyssey there was unusual amounts of rusting throughout both front wheel hubs. This also was a problem on our 2014 Honda Cr-V we also purchased new. My AIS system kicked in causing the engine to shut off. Unfortunately, the engine did not restart. I was unable to start my car or even shift it to neutral for a helpful bystander to help me push my car off of the road. I was blocking traffic on a busy road and I am very fortunate that I was not rear ended. Eventually, after about half an hour, was able to get the car restarted (even then, lots of “clicking” and hesitation with starting). I then drove the vehicle home. I took it to Honda and they made me aware today that they were unable to get…
