Several times over the past two months, I started having issues with the auto engine idle stop. I'm at about 25,000 miles and my vehicle has completely stalled out 4 times in two months. This is due to a failure of the auto engine idle stop system to restart the engine after I take my foot off the brake pedal. This has put my safety and others at risk in all of these incidents, all happened in busy, high traffic areas. In one instance it took a full minute to be able to turn my car back on. One time it triggered the collision system, and I coul…

Engine fails to restart after Idle Stop engaged. Engine stops normally when brake pedal is pressed and vehicle comes to full stop. Brake pedal is then released to restart engine but the engine does not start. Dashboard says "Shift to Park". The transmission is shifted to Park and then Start button is pushed to restart engine. Sometimes the Start button has to be pushed multiple times to restart engine. This is a safety issue because the vehicle cannot move in traffic, crossing an intersection, etc. It is equivalent to an engine stall. Th…

Strong engine oil odor after driving and then parking vehicle. Also checked engine oil, has a very strong gasoline smell to engine oil. Dealer claims unable to replicate, however I pointed out the smell to them once I arrived. Dealer mentioned that the smell was normal. They took the vehicle in anyway and claim again that the smell is normal. There are no warning lights or anything to indicate a problem. Smell first noticed around 5600 miles. Vehicle now at 16000 miles and still getting the same result with odor and fuel smell in the oil.

When the vehicle is in drive, stopped on a steep hill, and allowed to slip backward the software puts the transmission in neutral and shuts of the engine off. This leaves the vehicle coasting backwards with very little steering or brakes. This happened to me and I coasted backward across a street before I could get it stopped. The February 2022 edition of Consumer Reports, page 19, identifies 2017-2020 Honda Ridgeline (and others) as having a faulty Hood Latch that could release as the vehicle is in motion thereby blocking the driver's view of the road. I cannot find any evidence on your website or that of Honda's about a recall or a fix for this issue. Please look into this matter and get back to me as soon as possible. While trying to feel for the composite bed release button underneath the tailgate with the tailgate closed, the sharp composite bed of the truck lid sliced my finger open. The manufacture should have at least chamfered the edge of the trunk lid or installed a guard or trim piece that would prevent contact with the razor-sharp fiberglass-reinforced plastic material.

The paint on all four doors of my 2022 Honda Ridgeline Black Edition - White Pearl is cracking at the seam where sealant is applied, with visible rust beneath. This issue began at approximately 32,000 miles, within the warranty period. The cracks have worsened over time, and I’m concerned about potential corrosion and structural weakening of the doors.
In March 2025, I reported the issue to my local Honda dealer, who confirmed the cracks and instructed me to obtain repair estimates at their body shop. By May 2025, the regional Honda rep denie…

Both Drivers and Passenger doors won't unlock or open without significant' force. This only occurs sometimes but has happened many times over the last year. I have had witnesses (son's) in the car when this happens. It seems like the door locking solenoid is holding the doors locked and both pulling the handle and tryin to flip the unlock switch are difficult. The risk here is in a crash or fire, someone without strength, won't be able to exit the vehicle. I video'd this on 27Apr24 (can provide if requested).

I am the owner of a 2026 Honda Ridgeline, which I have owned for approximately seven months. Since taking delivery, the vehicle has emitted a persistent, very strong chemical odor consistent with volatile organic compound (VOC) off-gassing. This is distinct from a mildew or air-conditioning-related odor; the smell is present throughout the cabin interior as well as in the truck bed well, and does not correlate with AC use. In an effort to resolve the issue, I have kept the vehicle parked outside (not in an enclosed garage), with the bed well le…

When driving normally, oncominng traffic is triggering the frontal collision warning system. Is some cases long enough to start the emergency braking procedure if I do not engage the brakes manually preventing the automatic emergency braking. This usually happens on curves in the road in typically right hand curves. This is happening on 2 lane roads at between 45 and 55 mph. Initiating and emergency braking at this speed could send my car into the oncoming traffic. I am concerned for my safety if I do not hit the brakes manually.

While stopped in heavy traffic at a traffic signal, the engine stopped and would not restart. This was due to the AIS system. The car became disabled in heavy traffic. I was only a few feet from the entrance to a gas station, however due to the interlock system that locks the transmission in Park, the truck could not be pushed out of traffic. Honda, unlike other manufacturers the use the same transmission, does NOT supply an emergency over ride to get the transmission out of park ( hazard). After a few minutes of sitting in heavy traffic and n…

On numerous occasions (at least 5 times) the following occurred: Upon exiting the highway after approximately 90+ minutes of driving, the truck's check engine light starts flashing and the vehicle goes into "limp mode" and will barely accelerate to avoid oncoming traffic from behind. The vehicle must be stopped and turned off to clear the engine light and return to normal performance. The on-board computer does not store any diagnostic codes when this occurs. There are numerous documented incidents exactly like this one on the Honda Ridgelin…

On May 31, 2023, my wife and I were in our Honda ridgeline when attempting to back up into a parking spot. We noticed the instrument cluster went dark with only a "P" flashing. There were no alarms or indications of any fault. We shut down the truck. After trying to restart there was no instrument cluster along with the shifter locked in park. On this current model their is no emergency override out of park as on other vehicles. We had traffic backed up for hours as we called a tow truck to move the vehicle from the main street. Upon the ridge…

ON TWO OCCASIONS, I WAS DRIVING AT FREEWAY SPEEDS IN A COLD CLIMATE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR. I DECELERATED ONTO AN OFF RAMP. UPON ACCELERATION, I RECEIVED A FLASHING CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND REDUCED POWER. I WAS ABLE TO LIMP HOME AT DECREASED SPEEDS. I WAS ABLE TO PULL CODES P0304 - CYLINDER 4 MISFIRE, P0305 - CYLINDER 5 MISFIRE, C342D - MANUFACTURER CONTROL. THE PROBLEM WENT AWAY AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO SEE ANY CODES OR REPRODUCE THE ISSUE.

Th…

Condition: truck is stopped, the auto engine idle is on Action: release the brake to press the accelerator Result: the truck fails to restart, shuts off the engine completely, puts itself in Neutral, and all the lights in the dash illuminate I have to place the truck in Park and restart the engine. Sometimes the engine is difficult to restart, and I have to try several times. This has happened 3 times since November, and 3 other times the truck has almost stalled when restarting.

OEM starter that vehicle came with failed at 40,000 miles. Took vehicle to Honda dealership and dealership stated that starter motor was weak and need replacing. No warning such as weak or delayed start was present. Vehicle simply would not start in the morning after functioning properly the day previously. Jumping the vehicle did not help. The vehicle starter giving out so early and unexpectedly could leave motorists stranded at unexpected places or times.

After parking on the roadside with engine off for about 10 minutes, the truck would not start. I tried to start twice; the dash lights came on, I could hear the starter try to engage, felt a slight forward lurch from the vehicle, then nothing. The starter seemed to disengage' the dash lights stayed on, and the electric system went into ACC mode. I tried twice with same result. I attempted to put the shift selector in neutral, but it stayed in Park. I was seated in truck, seat belt on, foot pressing on brake pedal. After waiting a few minute…

The vehicle's Auto-Idle Stop (AIS) feature is defective and creates a severe safety hazard. While stopped at a busy road intersection, the feature engaged and shut the engine off normally. However, when releasing the brake pedal to proceed, the engine glitched and completely failed to restart, leaving the vehicle completely stalled, unpowered, and stranded in live traffic. The vehicle became a sitting duck in the intersection. This is a recurring issue that requires a complete ignition power cycle to recover, posing an immediate risk of a rear-…
