Owner report 11534305 · 2023-07-25 (July 25, 2023)

The steering is "sticky" causing the vehicle to zig-zag, rather than track straight, especially at highway speeds. If you take your eyes off the road for a second, the vehicle will veer into other lanes. It requires constant vigilance beyond what is required for normal driving to remian in your lane. This is a well-documented issue online involving the ball bearings and lubrication of the intermediate shaft of the steering column.

The traction battery on my Ioniq 2020 went bad after 3 months. The diagnostic panel warned me of an electric issue and the range dropped drastically. The dealer changed the battery no questions asked. My vin wasn't part of the recall. I wonder if the recall should have included a broader range of vehicles.

This issue is easily repeatable, when braking if you hit a bump (pot hole, etc.) the braking power is greatly reduced & the brake pedal becomes almost impossible to push down to stop the car, making it very hard to stop even when not coming to an abrupt stop.

When approaching a turn, I let off the accelerator but the car didn’t stop accelerating. Instead, it gently kept accelerating. I applied the brakes and the car started slowing down but not at the same rate I was applying brake pressure. Therefore I floored the brakes to try coming to a complete stop. Sadly, the cars ABS system did not engage, half of the car hopped over the curb at about 20 mph. I was able to steer the car back onto the road where it finally came to a stop but acted like it wanted to keep going until full blackout power loss ha…

The instrument cluster (digital speed display) on my 2019 Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid Limited has repeatedly turned off while driving. This issue happens randomly, especially in warm weather or after the car has been sitting in the sun. Sometimes the cluster reboots (I hear the start-up chime, the display shows the headlight icon, etc.), other times it remains blank for several minutes. This affects the ability to see speed, gear, and warning indicators, posing a serious safety risk. I’ve had to pull over multiple times because I couldn’t see how fas…

VEHICLE SAFETY HAZARD: ACTIVE HIGH-VOLTAGE ISOLATION FAULT (DTC P0AA6) WITH DECEPTIVE DEALER/MANUFACTURER BYPASS & CONCEALMENT. On April 15, 2026, the dealer scanned my 2021 Ioniq EV and uncovered DTC P0AA6 (Hybrid/EV Battery Voltage System Isolation Fault), which denotes a catastrophic high-voltage leak into the chassis. This is a severe safety hazard posing immediate risks of fatal electrocution to occupants, EV battery thermal runaway (fire), or sudden total loss of propulsion at highway speeds. Instead of grounding this dangerous vehicle…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
