Owner report 11533267 · 2023-07-19 (July 19, 2023)

The vehicle went into limp mode while traveling on the highway. Vehicle decelerated from 65mph to 30mph very quickly & without warning (no indicator lights came on). I was almost rear ended, since the car behind be had no idea I was decelerating due to no brake lights. It then slowly decelerated to 14mph as I was able to get off highway. Upon inspection, by me, the vehicle was found to have very little oil & I do get my oil changes on the required interval at the dealership. It had been about 2500miles since my last oil change. Hyundai has failed to remedy recall 235 within a reasonable amount of time, and is misreporting the stats of completed repairs related to this recall. They state that owner notification letters and dealer instructions were mailed May 2023 and that "dealers will install a new fuse and wire extension kit, as necessary, free of charge." Yet, the dealerships I've contacted do not have the replacement parts and have not been able to repair my vehicle despite many inquiries. I have inquired with Hyundai USA about this permanent recall remedy and th…

While driving my car it loses all power steering, said something about lane assist, shows a red circle with an exclamation point. This is dangerous as I can't turn. The only fix is to attempt to pull over, turn the car off and let it reset. This has happened three times in the middle of traffic, nearly causing accidents.

The Lane Departure and Lane Keeping Assist to not operate correctly because the car veers to the right. I have had the car serviced twice within one week of purchasing and there is no fix from the dealer nor Hyundai. I had a "engine overheat" warning while I was parked. I checked and noticed the coolant level was low. So, I added coolant and the warning went away. I thought it was just a one-time thing. After a week, I parked my car while I went to pick up something at the store. My mother was in the car so I left the car running. When I came back, I noticed a very strong smell of coolant and saw the "engine overheat" warning again, the car was blowing hot air. I am writing to formally report a significant safety concern involving my 2022 Hyundai Palisade, specifically related to the radiator and coolant system. In November 2024, I experienced issues indicative of a coolant leak, including engine overheating warnings and noticeable coolant odors. Upon investigation, I discovered that Hyundai had issued Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) #23-EM-003H on August 3, 2023, acknowledging that certain 2020–2022 Palisade models may exhibit a slight coolant leak at the radiator. Despite this acknowledgment, Hyu…

Simultaneously, the car compass indicated wrong direction; a safety announcement came over the infotainment system repeatedly telling us we were driving the wrong way on the street (we were not). Upon calling Hyundai service center, initially they were giving appointment 1 month away. After multiple unsuccessful repairs and software updates on the Santa Fe, we decided to trade it in for the Palisade. Since the purchase, the Palisade has undergone over ten warranty-related repairs. THE SEATBELT BUCKLES FOR THE CAPTAINS CHAIRS ARE RECESSED INTO THE BODY OF THE SEAT. THIS MAKES IT EXTREMELY DIFFICULT FOR BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN TO BUCKLE UP. THE BUCKLES ARE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO USE WITH BOOSTER CHAIRS WHITEOUT SOME AFTER MARKET MODIFICATION (NOT SAFE).*DT Consumer stated buckles are recessed into the seat bottom and latch is angled inwards towards the seat making it even trickier to get to. The angles isn't helping with latching. Silicone and foam building block is used to hold buckle in place.

Our vehicle has captain seats in the middle row. The seat buckles are so far recessed it's ALWAYS difficult to buckle, especially when using car seats or boosters. To date, the windshield has cracked and required replacement three times. This has happened in August 2023, Sept 2024 & May 2025. The first instance was caused by a small chip resulting from a visible impact. However, the subsequent two replacements occurred without any known cause or visible damage, suggesting a potential defect in the windshield's design or material integrity. After my 2022 Palisade Calligraphy with 95K miles stalled several times in intersections and ran rough, dealership said I was 4 quarts of oil low. Dealership recommended an oil consumption test and vehicle burns 1 quart every 568 miles. Hyundai denied my claim under their 100K power train warranty since I was 2nd owner, and they did not make a good will offer. After researching, it appears oil consumption is a common problem with Hyundai vehicles, specifically the Palisade. Aftermarket warranty I purchased denied my claim since it didn't co…

While driving my car it loses all power steering, said something about lane assist, shows a red circle with an exclamation point. This is dangerous as I can't turn. The only fix is to attempt to pull over, turn the car off and let it reset. This has happened three times in the middle of traffic, nearly causing accidents.

I was driving down a road with 50mph speed limit when a few of my dash lights began to come on and then go off. Then about 2minutes later, all the dash lights came on, my display screen went black, my power steering wheel froze up. I safely pulled over to a parking lot. Turned the car off. And it wouldn't start back up. I took it to the Jim Click Hyundai in Tucson to get it diagnosed. The alternator was diagnosed as faulty, therefore killing my battery. This is an extremely unsafe circumstance for my 2 year old car to be going through. I cannot…

I went to stop at an intersection, and the car started vibrating, the antilock blocks engaged, but it would not slow the car down, depressing the brakes further would not cause the car to slow down, and I had to swerve off the road to keep from hitting the car in front of me. The power steering seem to be affected because the steering wheel was vibrating, and it was hard to steer it off the road to prevent a collision. The road was smooth, and there did not seem to be any apparent reason for whatever malfunction was going on.

To Whom It May Concern, I am writing to formally report a serious safety issue involving my Hyundai Palisade related to brake failure. While driving my Hyundai Palisade, I experienced a situation where pressing the brake pedal resulted in little to no braking response. The vehicle did not slow or stop as expected, creating an extremely dangerous situation and a significant risk of collision. This occurred without warning, and the brake pedal did not provide normal resistance or stopping power. This issue appears to be intermittent, which mak…

The vehicle exhibits two distinct and dangerous behaviors: 1. Engine stalling upon deceleration: When slowing to a stop, the engine stalls abruptly before the vehicle comes to a complete stop, causing a sudden, unexpected deceleration that throws occupants forward with significant force. 2. Unintended surge upon brake release: When releasing the brake pedal from a complete stop, the vehicle surges forward unexpectedly and with excessive force, causing occupants to be jolted harshly without warning. Both incidents occur without any prior indi…

In April 2022, we purchased a new 2022 Hyundai Palisade from a dealership due to persistent issues with our previous Hyundai Santa Fe, which had ongoing engine problems and recalls. After multiple unsuccessful repairs and software updates on the Santa Fe, we decided to trade it in for the Palisade. Since the purchase, the Palisade has undergone over ten warranty-related repairs. In early 2023, an oil consumption test revealed significant warranty concerns, leading the dealership to keep the vehicle for additional diagnostics. This process laste…
