Owner report 11504566 · 2023-01-30 (January 30, 2023)

While on the highway, my car suddenly started shaking violently and losing power. I lost steering and was unable to accelerate. I pulled over to the side of the road and the vehicle would not start again. I took it in and a fuel injector was stuck open and it had flooded my engine. This was the second time with this vehicle that this happened.

The contact owns a 2023 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 60 MPH, the vehicle inadvertently decelerated to approximately 30 MPH and stalled. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer the vehicle off the road. The contact then stated that after she exited the vehicle, she noticed a white cloud of smoke coming from the exhaust and an abnormal odor outside the vehicle. Car is 2 days old and I have an appointment tomorrow to have it looked at. This sounds like similar problem that caused a recall last year on the 2022. This is a dual clutch auto.

This is the second incident with the same issue. Both times the car starts to shutter and when you give it gas it doesn't do anything and then it just dies. No steering no brakes nothing. You may or may not be able to restart the car to move it if it breaks down when it's in traffic, luckily we were able to get it fired up long enough to move it off the road.

The power-operated driver seat has moved on its own, without warning, while the vehicle is in gear, potentially moving the driver away from being able to reach the brake pedal or otherwise control the vehicle. The vehicle uses seat position memory pre-sets and/or driver profiles, such that even if a new driver sets the seat position manually or by using a pre-defined memory setting, will move the seat to the position it was last driven in. The driver can stop the seat from moving further by either activating the seat position controls or by se…

I was driving on the freeway, at the speed limit, cruising along. Then all of a sudden, my vehicle starts to decelerate from 65 MPH and I push the gas, thinking I must have let up too much on the pedal. However, that only causes the RPM to drastically rise with NO change in my speed. I thankfully managed to maneuver from the far left lane to the freeway shoulder on the far right. 2023 Hyundai Sonata Limited, 1.6 T. Battery discharged within 10 days while parked. This problem is well known to dealership. The dealership has to jump start cars and start them frequently on the dealership lot. It is impossible to park this model car at an airport or parking lot for more than a couple of days and maintain a battery charge. No warning or alerts. The problem is that the RESERVE amp hours of the standard stock battery is not adequate to supply the electronic drain of computers while parked.

On a highway cruising at 70mph with the ACC (Adaptive Cruise Control ) on and following distance set at max a car from another lane turned into my lane and then continued to an off ramp. My car initially braked and then downshifted from 8th to maybe 4th and accelerated hard - scaring me and my passengers. PURCHASED NEW 2018 SONATA SEL MODEL IN CALIFORNIA. WHILE DRIVING, THE TRANSMISSION STARTS TO HARD DOWNSHIFT WHEN THE BRAKE IS APPLIED. I FOUND OUT THAT THIS HARD DOWNSHIFTING AND JOLTING/THUMPING OF ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION ONLY OCCURS WHEN COMING TO A STOP AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 10 TO 15MPH. IT CAN BE DESCRIBED AS FOLLOWS, AFTER THE BRAKE PEDAL HAS BEEN GENTLY APPLIED AND LIGHTLY RELEASED BUT THEN THE CAR ITSELF APPLIED ITS BRAKE AGAIN. IT TERRIFIES THE DRIVER'S DRIVING CONDITIONS, MENTALLY AND PHYSICALLY.

I recently purchased a 2025 Hyundai Sonata. I’m writing to raise a concern regarding the height of the brake pedal in this vehicle. Both my wife and I have observed that the brake pedal seems noticeably higher than the gas pedal. This positioning requires extra effort to lift the foot during normal driving, and we are concerned that it may delay reaction time when moving from the accelerator to the brake , especially in emergency situations. I contacted the service department at the dealership to inquire if this pedal height is standard and w…

I was driving my 2023 Hyundai Sonata with 22,000 miles on I-96 near Grand Rapids Michigan at or slightly below the speed limit of 70 MPH. Suddenly, with no advance warning of any kind, the engine shut down. I was able to coast and maneuver to the right shoulder of the road while avoiding traffic, including a large tractor trailer that almost hit us. The vehicle than had just enough power to get off the next exit and on a local side street. At that point the vehicle would not restart and you could smell a strong odor of fuel. I called Hyund…

While driving at highway speed, my vehicle suddenly lost power due to fuel injector failure and could not be restarted, creating a serious safety risk for myself and others in high-speed traffic. This is the second vehicle of the same year and model that I’ve owned to experience the exact same injector failure. While driving at highway speeds, the emergency brake system will apply and alert me. It’s happened twice now in the last 3 weeks. I’ve experienced a random loss of power while driving on the highway with no check engine light on the dashboard. Lastly, at lower speeds the car will randomly jerk while accelerating with no lights on the dashboard as well. I’ve gone to the dealership but they wanted to charge me a diagnostics fee to first look over the vehicle, which I don’t feel I should be on the hook for since the issue isn’t user caused.

I was driving on the freeway, at the speed limit, cruising along. Then all of a sudden, my vehicle starts to decelerate from 65 MPH and I push the gas, thinking I must have let up too much on the pedal.
