Owner report 11439716 · 2021-11-08 (November 8, 2021)

Thankfully we are alive. We were going at speed and he attempted to pass me on the median, grass and rumble strips. He was inches away from my rear bumper, riding me. When I put the turn signal to move away from him he hit my driver’s side rear panel (side swiped), thank God it didn't turn into a pit maneuver and killed us. He then proceeded to take off. So one thing I have to say is, the vehicle has great pick up. I called 911 and went after him to get his lic plate. When I got to be about 10 car lengths or so, he slammed his brakes. Since I w…

While on the highway my car (2022 Tucson Hybrid) lost almost all power while I was driving. I was approaching traffic and started to slow down. The battery light illuminated red and the car was jerking backing forth cutting power and juddering while I was slowing down. Being that I was still in the flow of traffic and my car wasn’t fully dead yet I tried to move out of the road but due to traffic on my right I had to make a left turn. The backup alarm sound is unreasonably loud. I understand that it's a Hybrid Vehicle and can be quiet but very few ICE vehicle are as loud as the backup sound on my vehicle. One impact of the loud sound is that I find myself rushing to backup just to be able to get my vehicle out of reverse so that alarm can shut off. This is especially true when I'm in trying to avoid noise. This can be backing into my own driveway if I come home late at night so not to wake the family or neighbors. Neighbors have also complained that the sound is as if a semi…

The implementation of the hybrid car backup warning siren exceeds safe noise limits. In order to meet the fed reg requiring the vehicle to emit a sound that reaches the 56 db level 6 feet from the rear bumper- Hyundai installs a >90db speaker in the front of the car. Two times in the last two weeks of March and about 10 times since we purchased the vehicle new in December 2022, after starting the vehicle and backing out of our garage onto our street, then stopping then shifting from reverse to drive and going no faster than 15-20 mph for about 300 yards, the Tucson revs up to about 3ooo-3500 rpm and will not shift into second gear. After about 1 minute or so it seems ok. But until then the transmission does not shift smoothly like it did the first six weeks of ownership. It did not operate like this until a…

On Jan 5th, with odometer reading of 1747 miles, while driving on a busy highway, the car's speed decreased until the car stopped without warning. After pushing the car into a gas station to get out of harm's way, we contacted Hyundai roadside assistance. The car was towed to a nearby Hyundai dealership. After purchase, I drove home on the highway and noticed an obvious rattle/vibration. I returned the vehicle 3 times before it was finally discovered that there was a defect in the drive shaft. To hide the defect, during manufacturing multiple balance weights were installed on the same side of the drive shaft to allow it to pass safety checks, despite posing a major safety risk. The vehicle has been declared a Lemon and they must repurchase, but I suspect this problem will extend beyond my one vehicle.

While driving, I am repeatedly receiving a sudden “trunk open” warning on the dashboard. This warning is often accompanied by a loud noise, which can be startling and distracting while the vehicle is in motion. The abruptness and unexpected nature of the alert are alarming, especially on highways or in high-traffic situations, where any distraction could pose a serious safety hazard. This issue has occurred multiple times, and I am concerned that it could potentially cause an accident, either by drawing my attention away from the road or by ca…

Hyundai has a service bulletin for their 12V battery but isn’t notifying owners. Today my vehicle stopped working and lost all acceleration on a busy 3 lane street that is 55mph. I was able to limp it to a left turn lane where I had to research the issue and found many others had instances like mine. The battery stops working and subsequently stops the vehicle from accelerating and tells you to ‘stop safely’ with no warning or indication that you’re about to stop moving on a road.

It first occurred 3/25/26. The dealer was not able to reproduce the issue but found numerous faults and reset them. A week ago, I was driving my 2022 Tucson Hybrid Limited on the highway on my way to work around 7:50 a.m. It was a bright day, good weather. I was in the center lane when my car suddenly braked HARD and came to a stop on the highway! My foot was still on the gas pedal, but the Automatic Emergency Braking light was on. I panicked because I had no control over what the car was doing. Thankfully, I was not rear-ended and didn't cause an accident. I put on my hazard lights, shifted into park on the highway's center lane, then back into drive and i…

My Tucson is applying Automatic Emergency Break without a reason. It happened to me 3 times in a week with my Tucson Hybrid 2024 NLine, it was scary and I was on freeway at 70+MPH and couldn't capture the warning as it popped out for only 3 sec. I see no cars around when this happened and when I checked few forums I see this as a common problem in Hyundai vehicles in recent times and feeling scared. I was lucky enough last week as there is not vehicle behind me when breaks applied automatically.

I was able to limp it to a left turn lane where I had to research the issue and found many others had instances like mine. The battery stops working and subsequently stops the vehicle from accelerating and tells you to ‘stop safely’ with no warning or indication that you’re about to stop moving on a road.

On four occasions in the last five weeks, I have been driving at relatively low speed (20-30 MPH), and when I attempt to accelerate, the vehicle will not accelerate when I press the gas pedal. The tachometer shows the RPMs are maxed out, but the vehicle does not accelerate no matter how hard I press the gas pedal. I have to pull off the road, turn off the vehicle, and restart to fix it. I am certain I have not accidentally hit any buttons or switches each time. I have tried changing drive modes (eco/normal/sport) and using the paddle shifte…

The "check engine" and "hybrid system failure" lights came on, jeopardizing my safety and that of other road users. The car overheats significantly, to the extent that the air conditioning only blows hot air. This situation forced me to pull over on the highway shoulder, creating an additional risk for everyone involved in traffic.

My vehicle was purchased new and has less than 5100 miles on it. The screen and heads-up display randomly begin to glitch and then simply go dark. I can't see my speed, fuel or charge levels or any important data while driving. This has happened multiple times already. My vehicle is a 2025 model. Interestingly, Hyundai had the same type issue on 2024 models and issued a TSB to resolve this issue, but have not issued any repair for the 2025 models. This is a major safety issue.

Waited a few minutes and restarted vehicle which drove without problems. Took vehicle to the dealer who indicated the system was not showing any malfunction codes and they could not replicate the problem. Claimed to reset the system back to factory settings.
