Owner report 11717044 · 2026-02-10 (February 10, 2026)

I was in stop and go traffic on the highway. The car in front of me started going and I did as well. At this point, I was at least 3 car lengths behind them. They braked fairly quickly and I was as well. When I was braking, the FCA emergency braking enabled super prematurely. The result of the emergency braking caused the vehicle behind me to rear end me. My car has since been repaired, however this is super disappointing on a brand new car with 500 miles.

Owner report 11743554 · 2026-06-11 (June 11, 2026)

On my 2026 Hyundai Tucson Limited, the HVAC touch-panel status indicators are extremely difficult to see in daylight conditions. The illuminated indicators for A/C, recirculation, vent mode selection, and heated/cooled seat levels become washed out by sunlight and reflections. From the normal driving position, the indicators are often not visible. To determine the status of HVAC functions, I must lean forward and/or shield the panel with my hand to see the illuminated indicators. This requires additional driver attention and time looking away f…

Rear turn light visibility, turn signals are a foot off the ground and hard to see by cars following due to location on the bumper. This is only pertaining to the 4th generation Tucson (current), not any other generation. We didn't realize the issue when we bought the car, nor did we realize the placement in the bumpers. However someone stated it was hard to see the blinkers, especially in the rain. At first we thought the wiring had come undone, but then we noticed the same issue on all 2025-2026 model Tucsons. Then I noticed this video on You…

I SHOULD START BY STATING THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE SINCE I GOT IT LAST YEAR. AT RANDOM TIMES, WHILE DRIVING, MY VEHICLE WILL NOT ALLOW ME TO GO ABOVE 2500K RPMS, EVEN WITH THE GAS PEDAL FULLY DEPRESSED. THIS MAY HAPPEN WHILE I AM ON A SLOW ROAD OR, AS TODAY, WHEN I AM ON THE HIGHWAY. IT IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE I WILL NEED TO MERGE ONTO THE HIGHWAY OR SPEED UP FOR SOME OTHER REASON AND SUDDENLY I HAVE NO POWER. I WILL BE GOING 30MPH AND ENTERING A 70MPH ROADWAY. Shortly after driving an additional 10 miles, the vehicle’s screen malfunctioned, displaying burn-in and becoming non-functional. This issue significantly affects safety, as it renders the backup camera unusable during operation. The vehicle was first brought in for service on March 17, 2025, but the issue was not resolved. I experienced sudden unintended acceleration which propelled me over a curb, up an embankment, over a boulder and into a fence. I could have been killed or I could have killed others because I had no control of the car. The Hyundai corporation will not acknowledge this. The car was inspected and declared a total loss and is being moved to a location where it can be stored at no cost. There was no warning. Also this exact incident occurred with a Hyundai Kona I owned. That incident occurred on January 8, 2026.

TRANSMISSION DOES NOT CONSISTENTLY SHIFT THROUGH GEARS. UNDER ACCELERATION, IT WILL SOMETIMES SHIFT FROM 1-2- NEUTRAL INSTEAD OF GOING INTO 3RD GEAR. IF YOU DEACCELRATE AND THEN TRY TO ACELERATE AS WHEN COMING TO A TURN, THE CAR HAS EXTREME HESITATION AND SOMETIME WILL JUST REV TO 3,000RPM WITHOUT ANY MOVEMENT...AGAIN LIKE IT IS IN NEUTRAL. DEALERSHIP SAYS THIS IS ALL BY DESIGN AND I SHOULD ADJUST MY DRIVING HABITS TO ACCOMMODATE THIS DANGEROUSLY DESIGNED VEHICLE.

THE BACKUP CAMERA IS BLURRY AND FUZZY DURING THE DAY AND EVEN WORSE AT NIGHT. ALMOST USELESS AT NIGHT TIME. THE CAMERA SYSTEM IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SAFETY FEATURE BUT IT IS NOT VERY GOOD WHEN YOU CAN'T MAKE OUT OBJECTS AND THERE ISN'T A WARNING NOISE WHEN YOU ARE ABOUT TO BACK UP INTO SOMETHING. I HAVE TAKEN TO SERVICE DEPT AT DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES NOW AND THEY HAVE INSTALLED A NEW CAMERA AND IT IS STILL THE SAME AS THE FIRST ONE. I was driving on the highway and as I was slowing down for the slower traffic ahead the car started jerking and then the gas pedal wouldn’t cause the car to accelerate. I had to cross several lanes of traffic not being able to accelerate to get to the breakdown lane but could not get all the way off the highway. I believe that the issue was with the engine or brakes. There was a smell of burning in the car so I turned off the engine as soon as I got over as far as possible. I was driving on I95 and all of sudden the truck started sputtering and shut off. I turned off and back on , it would not go. Then the engine light came on. There was also smoke coming from the tail pipe when I tried again to start it. Back in December 2022, I was driving and the truck cut off and would not start at all. It was diagnosed as the Ignition coil being the problem. This horrible, both times could have been worse because of it cutting off while driving.

A persistent and dangerous safety defect regarding my 2026 Hyundai Tucson. Since February 19, 2026, I have experienced a chemical/burning odor when the heater is in operation. On 08/31/2025, I was involved in an accident while driving my 2025 Hyundai Tucson. While attempting to change lanes at highway speed, the driver behind me failed to see my turn signal and collided with my vehicle. I believe the cause was the unusually low placement of the rear bumper-mounted turn signals, which creates a direct visibility flaw.

I thought my granddaughter touched something but then it did it again when I was driving by myself. So I took the car in for the recall that came out for this issue and the day after that as I parked into an In-N-Out parking space my collision light came on warning me that there was a collision ahead. I was in a parking space so in that moment, I kind of let it go. Has done it a few times in local traffic. Fast forward to …

Wife was driving car and the steering locked up and she could not turn it for about 5 seconds. second issue was put it in reverse and it would not come out of reverse, she had to turn car off and on 3 times to get it to put it in park or drive. I ran this through my Claude AI and it says this is an ongoing problem with the Hyundai Tucson. Please make them fix this before selling anymore vehicles as both are major safety hazards.
