Year-by-year records
Recall history
6 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
92V102000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly
Reported: 1992-07-20 (July 20, 1992) · Model years: 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992
THE FUEL SYSTEM FAILED THE CRASH BARRIER TEST.
Consequence: THE FUEL TANK WAS PUNCTURED, RESULTING IN FLUID LOSSGREATER THAN ALLOWED BY FMVSS 301, "FUEL SYSTEM INTEGRITY". FUEL SPILLS INA COLLISION COULD LEAD TO A VEHICLE FIRE IF EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
Remedy: MODIFY THE FUEL TANK CAGE TO COMPLY WITH FMVSS 301.
NHTSA campaign record ↗91V208000 · Steering: Steering Wheel/Handle Bar
Reported: 1991-11-27 (November 27, 1991) · Model years: 1991, 1992
THE PINCH BOLT CONNECTING THE UPPER STEERING COLUMN TO THE LOWER STEERING COLUMN MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY TIGHTENED AND SEPARATION OF UPPER AND LOWER STEERING COLUMNS CAN OCCUR.
Consequence: IF THE STEERING COLUMN SEPARATES WHILE THE BUS IS INMOTION, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL AND A VEHICLE CRASH CAN OCCUR.
Remedy: TIGHTEN THE UPPER PINCH BOLT AS REQUIRED.
NHTSA campaign record ↗92V096000 · Steering:Hydraulic Power Assist:Hose, Piping, And Connections
Reported: 1992-07-07 (July 7, 1992) · Model years: 1991, 1992
THE POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE WAS INCORRECTLY ROUTED, AND COULD KINK AND REDUCE POWER STEERING ASSIST.
Consequence: IF THE POWER STEERING RETURN HOSE KINKS AND THE POWERASSIST IS REDUCED OR LOST, IT COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL ANDAN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: INSTALL A NEW, CORRECTLY ROUTED, POWER STEERING RETURN ASSEMBLY.
NHTSA campaign record ↗93V092000 · Suspension:Rear:Springs:Air Suspension System
Reported: 1993-05-21 (May 21, 1993) · Model years: 1991, 1992, 1993
THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE WAS OMITTED IN THE AIR TANK. THE AIR TANK IS THE RESERVOIR FOR THE AIR SUSPENSION AND IS NOT BRAKE RELATED. WITHOUT THE PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE, THERE IS NO BACK-UP SYSTEM TO LIMIT AIR PRESSURE IN THE AIR SUSPENSION SYSTEM.
Consequence: LACK OF A BACK-UP SYSTEM TO LIMIT AIR PRESSURE BUILD UPCAN CAUSE EXCESSIVE PRESSURE IN THE AIR TANK AND CAN CAUSE THE TANK TO RUPTURE.THIS CAN RESULT IN PERSONAL INJURY TO ANYONE IN THE VICINITY.
Remedy: INSTALL A PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE IN THE AIR TANK.
NHTSA campaign record ↗93V112000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting
Reported: 1993-07-07 (July 7, 1993) · Model years: 1991, 1992
THE FUEL TANK CAGE ASSEMBLY BOLTS MOUNTING THE VERTICAL STRAPS TO THE HORIZONTAL ANGLE WERE ASSEMBLED WITH THE THREADED END OF THE BOLTS FACING THE FUEL TANK.
Consequence: IF THE FUEL TANK CAGE IS STRUCK WITH SUFFICIENT FORCE ITIS POSSIBLE FOR THE BOLTS TO PIERCE THE FUEL TANK AND CAUSE FUEL LEAKAGE.FUEL LEAKAGE EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.
Remedy: THE FUEL TANK CAGE MOUNTING BOLTS WILL BE REMOVED AND REINSTALLED WITH THE BOLT HEAD TOWARD THE TANK.
NHTSA campaign record ↗94V234000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Power Assist:Hydraulic
Reported: 1994-11-28 (November 28, 1994) · Model years: 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995
THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE SYSTEM ON THESE BUSES USES TWO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE SWITCHES TO OPERATE THE BRAKE LIGHTS AND THE BRAKE BOOSTER PUMP. THE BRAKE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAN ACTIVATE WHEN ACTUAL SYSTEM FAILURE HAS NOT OCCURRED.
Consequence: A FALSE WARNING OF THE BRAKE PRESSURE WARNING LIGHT CAN CAUSE THE DRIVER TO IGNORE A WARNING WHEN AN ACTUAL PROBLEM EXISTS WHICH COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TWO HYDRAULIC PRESSURE SWITCHES WITH ONE MECHANICAL SWITCH THAT IS ACTIVATED BY BRAKE PEDAL STROKE.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
1994: 0 complaints · 1995: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |

| 1994 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1995 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1994 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 1995 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
