Recall history

1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

Reported: 2012-04-02 (April 2, 2012) · Model years: 2012

INTERSTATE TRAILERS IS RECALLING ONE MODEL YEAR 2012 30DLE TRAILER EQUIPPED WITH AN ELECTRIC/HYDRAULIC (E/H) BRAKE ACTUATOR PUMP. THIS PUMP MAY NOT HAVE BEEN PROPERLY HEAT TREATED. THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE PREMATURE WEAR OF SOME CRITICAL COMPONENTS IN THIS PUMP WHICH CAN RENDER THE UNIT INOPERABLE.

Consequence: THE E/H BRAKE ACTUATOR PROVIDES BRAKING POWER TO THE TRAILER BRAKES. FAILURE OF THE ACTUATOR CAN RESULT IN THE LOSS OF BRAKING EFFORT BY THE TRAILER, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: INTERSTATE TRAILERS HAS NOTIFIED THE OWNER, AND A DEALER REPLACED THE ACTUATOR, FREE OF CHARGE.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 INTERSTATE TRAILER 1 7X16 V-FRONT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND DEPRESSING THE BRAKES, HE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES ON THE SECOND AXLE DID NOT ENGAGE. HE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE COOL TO THE TOUCH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER. AFTER DIAGNOSIS, THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THERE WAS A DISCONNECTED WIRE AND RE-FITTED IT. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY RECONNECTING AND FITTING THE LOOSE WIRE. APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFA…

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
