Recall history

15 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

16V304000 · Equipment:Recreational Vehicle/Trailer

Reported: 2016-05-16 (May 16, 2016) · Model years: 2016

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2016 Jay Flight SLX recreational trailers manufactured March 3, 2016, to April 20, 2016. The bolts that secure the propane tank to the trailer's A-frame may be missing lock washers, allowing the propane tank to loosen and detach from the vehicle.

Consequence: If the propane tank detaches from the trailer, there is an increased risk of a crash.

Remedy: Jayco has notified owners, and dealers will install the lock washers to the two bolts that secure the propane tank to the A-frame, free of charge. The recall began on May 17, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901298.

16V560000 · Electrical System: Integrated Trailer Brake Control

Reported: 2016-07-27 (July 27, 2016) · Model years: 2016, 2017

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 Jay Feather, Jay Flight, Jay Flight SLX, Eagle, White Hawk, and Octane travel trailers manufactured January 5, 2016, to July 18, 2016, equipped with a Sway Command anti-sway system. When connected to certain tow vehicles that have an integrated brake controller, and after the anti-sway system has applied the trailer brakes in response to a sway event, the trailer brakes may no longer function to slow or stop the trailer.

Consequence: A loss of trailer brakes may lengthen the distance needed to stop the vehicle and cause a loss of vehicle control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will remove the Sway Command system from the affected travel trailers, free of charge. The recall began on August 3, 2016. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901308.

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2016-2018 Jay Flight SLX recreational trailers equipped with a 35 amp power converter. The electrical circuit from the battery does not have overcurrent protection such as a fuse or circuit breaker.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will install a fuse harness assembly with a circuit breaker for overcurrent protection, free of charge. The recall began on December 20, 2017. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901362.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, and dealers will replace the defective hubs with new hubs or replace the axles, free of charge. The recall began October 18, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901410.

The trailer propane regulator/tank switch mounted on the front of the trailer between the two propane tanks started venting propane. The regulator is a Winntec Model 6020, P1.0-15.6, Q6.R280. Our camping neighbors said they could smell a very strong odor of propane. Propane being heavier than air will tend to pool in any low spots on the ground in a campsite and then could be ignited by many sources of spark or static electricity, causing a fire that could engulf our trailer and possibly our neighbor’s trailers. It took a while with soapy w…

This RV was equipped from the factory with an axle on which was a sticker stating that the axle had a "D35 Capacity" of 3500 lbs. The RV also has a sticker stating that the GVWR is 4200 lbs and the "weight of this recreational vehicle trailer as completed at the factory with full propane cylinder(s) and full generator fuel if applicable is 1624 kg OR (3582 Lbs.)" To my understanding, this means that the "curb weight" of the RV exceeds that of the axle capacity. The GVWR of the RV also exceeds that of the axle capacity. While towing the RV, …

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
