DAMAGE TO WIRING CONSISTED OF MELTED WHITE (RETURN TO GROUND) WIRES ON THE SHORE POWER TO TRAILER OUTPUT ON THE SWITCH. SMOKE AND (HEAT) FIRE FROM MELTING SWITCH IN THE ENCLOSED HOUSING CAUSING SMOKE TO FILL THE TRAVEL TRAILER. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 JAYCO OCTANE TRAVEL CAMPER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WIRES AND TRANSFER SWITCH MELTED WHILE CAMPING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSFER SWITCH AND WIRES, BUT DID NOT STATE WHAT CAUSED THE WIRING SYSTEM TO FAIL. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THERE WAS NO MILEAGE TO REPORT.

I LOCKED THE DOOR TO THE TRAILER TO SECURE THE OCCUPANT INSIDE WHILE I WENT OUT FOR A WHILE. THE OCCUPANT WAS UNABLE TO GET OUT OF THE TRAILER. SHE HAD SOMEONE OUTSIDE TO TRY AND OPEN THE DOOR AFTER SHE THREW THE INSIDE CONTROLS TO UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE TRIED TO OPEN THE DOOR WITH OUT ANY SUCCESS.
