Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

17V746000 · Equipment

Reported: 2017-11-21 (November 21, 2017) · Model years: 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling various 2002-2016 recreational vehicles equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. A list of the affected trailer models is available at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V746-9524.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-283-8267, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.

13V558000 · Structure:Body:Roof And Pillars

Reported: 2013-11-07 (November 7, 2013) · Model years: 2011

Jayco is recalling certain model year 2011 Jay Series pop-up camping trailers. In these vehicles, if a component failure occurs in the roof lifter system, the failure may cause the roof to abruptly collapse to the closed position.

Consequence: If the roof abruptly closes, there is an increased risk of personal injury.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners and dealers will add a metal stop that prevents to sudden collapse of the roof, free of charge. The recall began on December 19, 2013. Owners may contact Jacyo at 1-800-283-8267 for more information.

18V292000 · Structure:Body:Roof And Pillars

Reported: 2018-05-03 (May 3, 2018) · Model years: 2011, 2013

Jayco, Inc. (Jayco) is recalling certain 2011 and 2013 Jay Series BB, BC and BD camping trailers equipped with a Lippert Power Roof Lift Mechanism. The manual over-ride feature on these power lifts may be misused, potentially resulting in torque from the drive motor damaging the lift mechanism.

Consequence: Damage to the lift mechanism may cause the roof to fall unexpectedly, increasing the risk of injury.

Remedy: Jayco will notify owners and will provide a warning label to instruct owners of the proper use of the manual over-ride feature, free of charge. The recall began on June 26, 2018. Owners may contact Jayco customer service at 1-800-517-9137. Jayco's number for this recall is 9901379.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
