Owner report 11539027 · 2023-08-16 (August 16, 2023)

Battery is not keeping power and vehicle stalled out while going 70 miles and vehicle wouldn’t power on for more than 10 mins even after charging battery. I am getting 12.0V while going 75 miles and i get 14.0 when I am stopped and parked. Had to have vehicle towed to dealership and they said they couldn’t recreate the issue. The dealer didn’t put my engine cover back and my vehicle is still not producing enough power.

- Due to the use of soy-based wire insulation, a rodents nest was formed and found in the engine compartment. Wires were severely damaged from being chewed. The Electrical system failed with multiple open circuits. Evidently, the car has a design flaw. - Open circuits (exposed wires) pose a risk to the vehicle due to fire. Engine performance was rough due to the loss of some of the engine controls and the TIPM (Totally Integrated Power Module). - Vehicle was inspected by a dealer of the OEM - There was a check engine light, and loss of contro…

Vehicle sets automatic brake when backing up. The back up camera turns red as if something was blocking when nothing is there. When attempting to go in reverse the car kept stoping on its own and putting the emergency break on. It took multiple attempts to get out of the parking lot and has happened more than once.

After starting the vehicle, I placed it in reverse and warning light came on - steering unavailable, lane change and collision warning unavailable. I was not able to steer the vehicle. Shut engine off several times and had the same problem. Later in the day, I started the vehicle with no problems. Power steering and other warning lights, including blind spot monitoring and lane assist, came on in a Grand Cherokee. I was unable to move the vehicle - the power steering was locked. Fortunately, it wasn’t on the road, but the driver was stranded until able to get the vehicle started eventually. The issue with the power steering is concerning, especially while driving. The engine light has remained on since.

Vehicle spent 18 days in service with no fix other than to clear code U0131 "Loss of Comm with power steering" and to do a EPS Flash. Vehicle power steering issue may come again and no fix offered by Jeep. Phone call to Jeep fielded no help and offered no assistance.

I.E. putting the vehicle in reverse immediately after starting the engine will show a frozen, then 1-2 second delayed view of the actual image when in reverse. This problem happens any time the vehicle is started, and corrects after about 15 seconds, when finally an actual live view is displayed by the backup camera when in reverse.

Twice in the last month I was driving to work on a two lane road without any objects in the roadway and the forward collision warning system automatically applied the breaks hard enough for my coffee to splash out of my coffee cup. It occurred at almost the same spot on the road. However, I drive this road at least twice a day. I'm concerned that it might apply the breaks randomly while driving on the highway, thus causing an accident. I have reported it to the dealer. Despite me relaying my safety concern to them, I am unable to get an ap…

On four separate incidences, the automatic emergency brake engaged while driving the vehicle at speeds in excess of 30 mph. There was no warning or reason for the emergency brake to engage. This resulted in the car needing to be towed to the dealer on two occasions as the vehicle froze and was not drivable. The dealer states they are unable to diagnose the problem or fix it as there are no codes that populate during the diagnostic session. This is an obvious safety hazard as this is a family vehicle with two small children in the rear seats.

Once a week or so, the vehicle will experience motive power loss while driving. Typically, it's for 3 or 4 seconds and is accompanied by a blinking red "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning light on the dashboard. Vehicle has a knocking noise coming from around the engine. There has been a TSB posted regarding the issue described as, "Customer may describe a low frequency vibration noise heard during engine mount actuation while at idle in gear". This is a frequent issue among dealers around my area that are having to replace vehicles outside of the warrant window. Engine mounts in most vehicles last at least 5-6 years before having to be replaced. This is causing a huge distraction with the noise that is a result.

My Jeep, when using adaptive cruise control, will occasionally apply emergency breaking when a vehicle passes alongside me in an adjacent lane in the same direction of travel. I’ve had other cars directly behind me when this happens and it appears to other drivers like I’m “break checking” them. Usually it’s triggered when the passing adjacent vehicle is a tractor trailer or a truck pulling a trailer. Furthermore, the actual early warning forward crash detection does not work at all. I have no warning lights alerting me of a malfunction.

Once a week or so, the vehicle will experience motive power loss while driving. Typically, it's for 3 or 4 seconds and is accompanied by a blinking red "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning light on the dashboard. This is very dangerous because for those 3 or 4 seconds, the vehicle will not accelerate/maintain speed. I've had the vehicle at the dealership for the same reason multiple times. The dealership has tried to identify the root cause but so far has not been successful.

I am filing a complaint regarding repeated and dangerous safety failures with my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland 4xe, which I purchased as a brand-new vehicle on February 22, 2025. The most critical issue is that the vehicle has shut off on two separate occasions, once while in motion driving up a hill and once during a suspension height adjustment while stopped. Once a week or so, the vehicle will experience motive power loss while driving. Typically, it's for 3 or 4 seconds and is accompanied by a blinking red "Service Hybrid Electric Vehicle System" warning light on the dashboard. My Jeep, when using adaptive cruise control, will occasionally apply emergency breaking when a vehicle passes alongside me in an adjacent lane in the same direction of travel. I’ve had other cars directly behind me when this happens and it appears to other drivers like I’m “break checking” them. A few moments after I started my car and started to move the steering wheel became stiff and very hard to steer. I received warning messages on the dashboard telling me that the power steering was unavailable. There were also other warnings regarding blind spot and lane control systems.

[XXX], I was driving down [XXX] toward Waynesboro GA, when the radio and dashboard lights started flashing. I assumed that maybe the truck system was resetting when all of a sudden the truck turned off, so I coasted into the middle turn lane on a two lane highway and then the truck filled with smoke from the air conditioning vent and underneath the dash so I attempted to exit the vehicle on the driver side. The truck would not start. Hazard lights would not work. Semi- trucks passing in both directions. My truck was then hit by debris from pas…

On January 23, while driving, the vehicle suddenly shut down and stopped working without warning. I attempted to restart the vehicle several times, but it would not start. Smoke was coming from the engine area, and the vehicle was completely disabled on the road. I was stranded on the roadside until approximately 11:30 PM, waiting for a tow truck to arrive. The vehicle had to be towed and taken to the dealership. The dealership later confirmed that the engine wiring harness had burned and failed. The failed component is currently at the deale…

The brake force will jump suddenly and fall back when the brake pedal is even maintained at a constant level while the vehicle is being braked to a stop or decelerating. This malfunctioning will lead to imprecise control of the distance to the front vehicle. Engine Wobbling when it is fully stopped with "D" gear engaged, especially when the transmission temperature comes up after a few hours of driving. It can be clearly felt that the entire vehicle is bouncing with the engine. Engine misfires when crawling after a cold start. Engine speed …

While driving on a local neighborhood street at approximately 38 miles per hour, ( cruise control possibly engaged) , all the lights on my dashboard suddenly illuminated. A messages appeared stating that service was required for every guidance and braking system. At that moment I became concerned, so I attempted to use the brake. Despite pressing the brake pedal as hard as I could, the car did not slow down. I cannot remember if I downshifted using the paddle shifters on the steering wheel, but I was able to coast to a manageable speed and pul…

Car completely shut off while saying the electrical hybrid system needed to be serviced. Car turned back on and light was off. Check engine light going on and off as well. When going lower speeds the cars rpms rev all the way up, almost to the red, and while your pressing the gas doesn’t move but then jerks and goes forward. Your head slams into the seat and it’s extremely unsafe especially if you are in stop and go traffic. The car has been spitting and sputtering. Brought it to the dealership I just purchased it from, I’ve only made one payme…

Issue Summary: My vehicle repeatedly shuts off electric mode after displaying a warning message: “Service Hybrid Electrical Vehicle System” followed by “Electric Mode Temporarily Unavailable.” Also, sometimes there is a jerking/short loss of power while the engine cuts on that is not smooth Service History: The vehicle has been in the shop multiple times for this issue. On March 10, 2025 and August 18, 2025, I brought it to Butler Jeep in Beaufort, SC. The dealership identified Star Case [XXX] (dated August 2024). However, as of September …

Hybrid battery system, still don't have heat after 2 years of car ownership. Not to mention the hybrid battery failure rate, I've driven several times and the vehicle will just have no power. I bring it to the dealership almost monthly and they always have some excuse. The vehicle's lane assist is also a hazard. I'll just be driving down highway and it'll just jerk the wheel randomly.
