Engine And Engine Cooling:Exhaust System:Manifold/Header/Muffler/Tail Pipe
THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEADERS HAVE CRACKED IN TWO SEPARATE LOCATIONS. THE FIRST CRACK IS LOCATED AT A BEND IN THE HEADER AND THE SECOND CRACK IS NEAR THE WELD AT THE FLANGE WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE EXHAUST PIPE. THIS LOCATION HAS CRACKED COMPLETELY AROUND THE PIPE, MOSTLY AT THE WELD BUT UPWARDS 1/2" INTO THE MANIFOLD ITSELF.*AK
PASSENGER COMPARTMENT FILLS WITH WATER (OVER ONE INCH!) IN HEAVY RAINS AT FREEWAY SPEEDS. I DETERMINED (MECHANICAL ENGINEER) THAT WHEEL SPRAY FROM REAR TIRE PENETRATED POORLY SEALED BODY SEAMS ON PASSENGER SIDE. TOOK DEALER FOUR TIMES TO FIX EVEN THOUGH I IDENTIFIED THE PROBLEM. I SHOWED APPROXIMATE AREA OF LEAKING AT FOOT LEVEL ON RIGHT LOWER BODY AND THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW! NEXT TIME THEY SEALED THE FIREWALL AND FINALLY TWO SEALANT PATCHES WERE MADE IN THE AREA OF ACTUAL LEAKAGE. TOTAL OF FOUR TRIPS TO HAVE FIXED. STILL SLIGHTLY LEAKS…
THE AIRCONDITIONER SWITCH HAS MELTED 2 TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNER THIS JEEP. DEALER SAYS NOTHING IS WRONG. NO ADD ON EQUIPMENT OF ANY KIND IS PRESENT OTHER THAN A CELL PHONE CHARGER IN THE CIGAR LIGHTER RECEPTACLE. THERE HAD BEEN NO FIRE YET...BUT THE WIRES ARE GETTING HARD AND BRITTLE. THE FIRST SWITCH JUST SHOWED SOME MELTING OF THE PLASTIC ON THE SWITCH HOUSING. THE SECOND SWITCH HAD THE METAL LUG THAT THE HIGH-SPEED FAN WIRE CONNETS TO COMPLETELY LOOSE FROM THE SWITCH AND HANGING IN THE WIRE CONNECTOR. I HAVE BEEN TO 2 DEALERS AND BOTH …
DRIVING ABOVE 55 MILES, GOING OVER A BUMP OR ROUGH AREA WILL CAUSE THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY (NICK-NAMED "DEATH WOBBLE" BY JEEP OWNERS) AND BECOMES VERY HARD TO CONTROLL. HAVE TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP COMPLETLY IN ORDER TO GET IT STOP. ON THE HIGHWAY WHERE SPEED LIMIT IS 75 MILES, IT COULD BE DEADLY. SO FAR WE WERE LUCKY... WE HAD NEW STEERING STABELIZERS, SHOCKS PUT IN, BALANCED THE TIRES, HAD WHEEL ALIGNMENT BUT IT KEEPS ON HAPPENING. CHRYSLER SUGGESTED TO TAKE IT IN TO THE SHOP AGAIN (AND SPEND MORE MONEY ON A NO-FIX REPAIR) IS NOT THE ANSW…

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2000 JEEP WRANGLER YJ. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE. IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE FRAME WAS SEVERELY RUSTED AND THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
