Owner report 11668770 · 2025-06-23 (June 23, 2025)

My 2025 Kawasaki ZX-6R was recently included as a part of a federal recall concerning a defective crankshaft bearing. A critical engine component, the failure of which could lead to engine seizure, stalling or loss of power - posing a very serious risk and likelihood of a crash. After learning of this recall, I contacted my authorized dealer who confirmed that my VIN was affected, but advised me to CONTINUE RIDING, until I got a letter which would give more information on getting it repaired. I contacted Kawasaki customer care on two separat…

I was told by the dealership that the bike should not be ridden due to the severity of the issue. Since then, I have contacted the dealership three times. My 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R ABS KRT Edition suffered a catastrophic engine failure at approximately 2,300 miles, resulting in a physical hole/breach in the engine crankcase and loss of engine oil. The motorcycle is currently at the selling Kawasaki dealer, Motorcycle Mall in [XXX]. This motorcycle is affected by Kawasaki/NHTSA safety recall campaigns involving the #5 crankshaft bushing and crankcase bolt loading, including NHTSA Recall 25V376 and the subsequent related recall 25V798 / Kawasaki MC25-11. I had to tow the motorcycle to the dealership, where a teardown revealed catastrophic engine failure, including internal damage to the crankcase, pistons, and transmission holder. I WAS RIDING AT ABOUT 25-30 MPH WHEN I CAME TO A STOP SIGN. AS I SLOWED DOWN AND SQUEEZED THE CLUTCH LEVER IN TO DOWNSHIFT THE ENGINE INSTANTLY CUT OFF AND THE IDLE NEEDLE DROPPED FROM ABOUT 3000 RPM TO ZERO INSTANTLY. THE BIKE THEN FELT REALLY LIGHT BECAUSE THE ENGINE WAS CUT OFF AND IT WAS LIKE I HAD NO CONTROL OF THE BIKE. LUCKILY NO CARS WERE BEHIND OR IN FRONT OF ME OR THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN A POSSIBLE COLLISION. *TR

The engine on my 2022 Kawasaki ZX6R suddenly failed while I was riding on the highway, which caused the motorcycle to lose power abruptly. The component that failed was the engine assembly, and Kawasaki later acknowledged that the failure was due to the same defect currently affecting the 2024–2025 models under an active recall. The engine is currently at a Kawasaki dealership waiting for Kawasaki corporate to figure out what to do with the recalls. This malfunction put my safety and the safety of others at serious risk. While riding home on June 7 2025 on I64 West between Parham Rd and Gaskins Rd exits, my Kawasaki ZX-6R lurched while travelling around 70 mph at approximately 11:30PM. Engine RPM rose slightly during the lurch, afterwhich there was a noticeable drop in engine power. The engine continued to run, so I rode it off of the I64 Gaskins Rd exit, and it was only after I was on Gaskins Rd that the exhaust noise was noticeably louder, as if running on only a single cylinder instead of four. Unknown. Fatal motorcycle accident. Based on the police report, one witness said he blew a tire and all witnesses state that he and the bike went airborn. The motorcycle was part of the group of ZX6R's recalled by Kawasaki though its since been salvaged. The officer at the scene confirmed the bikes tire was intact so there's some suspicion that something else happened such as other parts coming off of the bike or the wheel smoking such as if it had locked up.

I own a 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R. The motorcycle is subject to multiple safety recalls related to crankshaft bearing/bushing seizure that can cause sudden engine stall and crash risk. In June 2025, Kawasaki issued Recall 25V376 and instructed owners not to ride the motorcycle until an authorized repair was completed. My motorcycle underwent the recall repair, which resulted in an extended loss of use of approximately two months. In November 2025, Kawasaki issued a second safety recall (25V798) stating that the prior repair may not have prope…

This is a follow-up to my prior complaint regarding my 2025 Kawasaki Ninja ZX-6R (VIN [XXX] ). In December 2025 I received another recall notice for Recall 25V798 stating that the prior recall repair may not have properly addressed the crankshaft bushing defect and again instructing that the motorcycle not be ridden. I attempted to schedule the repair but the dealer stated parts are unavailable with no timeline. The motorcycle remains unsafe and unusable despite prior recall remedy. There has been two recalls on my motorcycle. My bike passed the first inspection, i took my bike in two weeks ago for the 2nd inspection, per my Kawaskai dealer my bike did not pass. They informed me that my bike required a new engine. On saturday I call my dealer and was told that Kawasaki re worded the recall fix solution and that my bike passed. My dealer said that the reworded statment makes no sense and that they would not trust the motor on this bike. So if the techs at the dealer are saying that this bike is unsafe to ride why should I j…

This motorcycle has been recalled twice. The first recall my bike passed and was good to go. I received another letter about a 2nd recall. Was told it did not pass recall and is out of spec. I am now being told that my bike is passing kawasaki's new spec numbers for the recall. I do not feel safe riding a bike that was deem unsafe to ride and failing a recall. Now all of the sudden new numbers come up and is just aye okay to ride. How would is the consumer supposed to feel about this? A motorcycle is life or death.

Recall 25V376 had reportedly been perfor…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

While riding at normal speed, I heard a loud popping noise from the engine, followed by immediate power loss. The motorcycle shut off without warning and coolant began leaking heavily near the front wheel. There were no warning lights or symptoms beforehand. The bike had fewer than 3,000 miles on it and was well maintained. I had to tow the motorcycle to the dealership, where a teardown revealed catastrophic engine failure, including internal damage to the crankcase, pistons, and transmission holder. The issue was later confirmed to be related …
