THE AWNINGS FOR THE SLIDE-OUT ROOM CAN UNFURL OR UNROLL DURING TRANSIT CAUSING THE BRACKET TO RIP FREE OF THE SIDEWALL OF THE VEHICLE.

Consequence: THE AWNING COULD BREAK LOOSE WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION RESULTING IN A VEHICLE ACCIDENT AND PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: CAREFREE OF COLORADO IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY CAMPAIGN FOR THIS RECALL. DEALERS WILL INSTALL ARM LOCKS, ANTI-BILLOW STUDS AND BRACKETS AS WELL AS WIND DEFLECTORS ON THESE AWNINGS.

THIS RV WAS PURCHASED NEW ON 09/29/1999 IN COLO IA. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE I POINTED OUT A NUMBER OF DEFICIENCIES IN COMPONENTS OF THE TRAILER TO THE DEALER. THEY EITHER FAILED OR REFUSED TO DO ANY FURTHER WORK. I HAD PAID CASH FOR THE TRAILER AND DECIDED I WOULD GET REPAIRS DONE IN A LESS HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT. AT MY FIRST STOP I CONTACTED AN AUTHORIZED REPAIR CENTER ABOUT THE NON-FUNCTIONING PROPANE HEATER. THEY FOUND THAT THE DUCTWORK HAD NOT BEEN CONNECTED AT THE FACTORY. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
