25V825000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine:Engine Control Module (Ecu/Ecm):Software

Reported: 2025-12-01 (December 1, 2025) · Model years: 2025

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2024 Husqvarna Vitpilen 401, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, 2024-2025 390 Duke, 2025 390 SMC R, 390 Enduro R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Adventure R motorcycles. The engine control software may cause the engine to stall at low rpms, resulting in a loss of power.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: KTM and Husqvarna dealers will inspect the motorcycles and update the electronic control unit engine management system (ECU EMS) software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed January 23, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's numbers for this recall are KTB2513 & HTB2508.

Reported: 2025-12-23 (December 23, 2025) · Model years: 2025

KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) is recalling certain 2025 390 Adventure R, 390 SMC R, 390 Adventure X, and 390 Enduro R motorcycles. Engine vibrations may cause the side stand spring to break and the side stand to fall to the ground.

Consequence: A motorcycle side stand that falls to the ground while riding can shut off the ignition, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Owners are advised to secure the side stand before riding the motorcycle until the remedy has been completed. Dealers will replace the side stand spring and install a new side stand sensor retaining plate, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on February 17, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. The manufacturer's number for this recall is KTB2514. The information in your report suggests that KTM North America, Inc. (KTM) may have been aware of this issue more than five business days before filing a report with NHTSA. Please be reminded that under Federal law, this agency is to be notified of all safety defect and/or noncompliance decisions within five business days. 49 CFR 573.6. Significant civil penalties can be assessed for this violation.

When fully warmed up the engine will cut out the moment the throttle is applied, seemingly misfiring - sometimes 3 times in a row after restarting. Sometimes this will happen at low speed, either with a clang from early detonation or completely stalling the bike when riding at low rpm. Off-road - this is particularly dangerous when traversing obstacles as sudden loss of forward momentum will affect control of the motorcycle, sometimes in precarious places. On road, especially dangerous if the engine cuts out while accelerating from a stop i…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

No selected model years have a complete observation window. Choose an eligible year or a shorter window.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.

The bike is prone to stalling as you come to a stop and are pulling in the clutch. It can happen without warning. There is also an issue with the side stand. It stacks out pretty far and if your boot touches it can kill power delivery leading to a sudden loss of power.

The bike has 400 miles on it. While riding the motorcycle on the highway (route 24 in MA) going 60 MPH, the spring of the side stand disconnected and the side stand extended and dragged on the road. Since the bike was in gear, the engine immediately stopped. I was lucky there was no car to my right and I was able to safely stop at the side of the road and use a zip tie to hold it up. I took the bike to the dealer and he said there are no recalls on the bike. Looking on-line I see similar complains and a recall and full change to the side stand …

Engine constantly stalls when coming to stop. It has stalled at stoplights and intersections when trying to takeoff. It’s also stalled when coming to a stop with the clutch in the engine dies. I have been riding motorcycles for 50+ years. It’s been to the dealer several times and it still does it. Install several times every time I take it for a ride.

I have a 2025 KTM 390 Adventure R with 4500 miles on it. Numerous times the E-throttle has lost throttle response mid-ride, the engine drops to idle and the check engine light comes on. After pulling over, I restart the engine and it works as normal. It has happened on the freeway and was difficult to pull over to the side to remedy the problem. I called several KTM dealers and they said they have never heard of such a problem. I researched the problem online and found recall #25v598 which was for 2022-2024 KTM 390 Adventure. It was for a f…

1. The Turn Signal Malfunction indicator is randomly triggered. Observation indicates this occurs when the ambient temperature is under 60 degrees. When the error code is displayed, the turn signals are non-functional. 2. The first time this occurred I was several miles from home at dusk. I had to turn onto and off of a highway without turn signals. At that time of day hand signals are not easily seen. This is dangerous. 3. This is the second bike my dealer has recently sold with this issue. The dealer left my bike in an unheated area …
