KTM North America, Inc. is recalling certain 2022-2023 390 Duke and 2022-2024 RC 390 motorcycles. Water may enter the throttle (e-throttle) control unit and cause it to fail, resulting in loss of drive power while riding.

Consequence: Loss of drive power while riding increases the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: KTM will inspect and replace the e-throttle control, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 30, 2026. Owners may contact KTM customer service at 1-888-985-6090. Vehicle Identification Numbers (VINs) involved in this recall will become searchable on NHTSA.gov March 31, 2026. KTM's number for this recall is KTB2606 & HTB2603. THE COOLANT IN THE RESERVOIR TANK BECOMES EMPTY WHEN DRIVING THE MOTORCYCLE FOR AROUND 100-130 MILES IN NORMAL CONDITIONS. THERE SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE WITH THE VALVE SEPARATING THE ENGINE OIL AND THE COOLANT. DUE TO THIS ISSUE, THE COOLANT LEAKS INTO THE ENGINE AND CAUSES ISSUES LIKE HIGH ENGINE TEMPERATURES, MURKY ENGINE OIL DUE TO MIXING WITH COOLANT, HEAVY SMOKE FROM THE EXHAUST. THIS SEEMS TO BE A WIDER PROBLEM IN MANY OF THE DUKE 390 FROM WHAT WE HAVE READ ONLINE FROM OTHER DUKE 390 OWNERS. THIS WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN SOME OF THE MOD…

GET LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING RANDOMLY THAT WILL LEAD TO INTERMITTENT POWER ISSUES TO THE POINT OF STALLING OR TOTALLY HAVING THE ENGINE SHUT OFF. AFTER THAT IT WILL NOT BE ABLE TO START FOR A LONG TIME OR WONT START AT ALL. HAS BEEN PLAGUED WITH ALOT OF SENSOR ISSUES AND OVERHEATING FOR NO REASON TOO. THIS ALL HAPPENS EVEN THOUGH IT HAS ALL NEW OIL AND COOLANT. WAS DOING IT SINCE EVEN THE FIRST 100 MILES TILL IT HAS NOW GOTTEN TO THE POINT THE BIKE IS UNSAFE AND NON FUNCTIONING.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
