VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. I COULD ALWAYS SMELL GAS BUT COULD SEE NOTHING DRIPPING. WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE JUST DIED. THE GAS MONITOR SAID I HAD 50 MILES TO GO BEFORE NEEDING FUEL. I GOT IT TOWED IN AND WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP WAS LEAKING. while driving at approximately 70 mph on the highway, I encountered a severe issue that jeopardized my safety and the safety of others on the road.The problem manifested as a fuel leak, resulting in fumes inside the vehicle that caused impairment to my ability to operate the vehicle safely. This impairment led to the vehicle entering a gated mode and initiating aggressive braking, almost causing a collision.This incident is deeply alarming, and I believe it poses a serious risk to the well-being of drivers and passengers. WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING OR IN ACCESSORY MODE FUEL IS BEING RELEASED FROM A CRACK IN THE GAS TANK ACCESS COVER. THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF FUEL NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR DOOR AREA. I RESEARCHED THIS ISSUE AND REPLACE THE FAULTY PART BEFORE IT HAD THE POTENTIAL TO START A FUEL VAPOR FIRE.
