WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE ACTUATOR FAILED, CAUSING IT TO BE UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THOUSANDS OF LEXUS/TOYOTAS PRODUCED AROUND THIS TIME. INSTEAD OF WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT (WHICH MY CAR NO LONGER QUALIFIES FOR), THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SO ALL VEHICLES WITH THIS FAULTY COMPONENT CAN BE PROPERLY REPAIRED. THE COST TO REPAIR WAS QUOTED FROM THE DEALER AT $3800!

MY CAR WOULD BE OUT OF OIL 1,800 MILE PRIOR TO ME NEXT OIL CHANGE AND I WOULD NEED TO ADD 2 QUARTS OF OIL TO MY CAR. WHEN I BROUGHT THE CAR IN TO BE LOOKED AT, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS OIL SEEPAGE IN THE TIMING CHAIN AREA WHICH IS A $3,500 REPAIR. WHEN THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED WHILE IN DRIVE THE RPMS RANDOMLY INCREASE FROM 500 TO 1000 AND THE CAR INCHES UP UNLESS I APPLY MORE PRESSURE ON THE BRAKES. THIS IS USUALLY NOTICEABLE WHILE I AM IN THE DRIVE-THRU AT FAST FOOD RESTAURANTS WHILE WAITING IN LINE. WHILE WAITING FOR 5 OR SO MINUTES IT USUALLY OCCURS 2-3 TIMES. I RARELY NOTICE IT HAPPEN AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS AS THEY USUALLY DON'T LAST THAT LONG. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST A FEW TIMES A WEEK.

I started my car in the morning and when I started the engine it was an instant extreme rough idle with the engine light and traction control light blinking on my dashboard and the engine cuts out on its own. I have my car at a Toyota dealership since it’s closer than the Lexus dealership and they have ran an extensive testing diagnostic on my car resulting in a valve stuck open and a valve spring fell out. The component issue is the dashboard. The dashboard has deteriorated and melted to a sticky, shiny tar with a major shine that is causing a glare and potential blind spot will driving. The problem with my vehicle has been a known issue with several models experiencing similar issues. The manufacture has a habit of not fixing the problem until many attempts made by the owner to rectify the problem or denies the claim that it meets a service bulletin that has expired as in my case.

In October 2019 my engine upon start made a knocking/rattling sound. The engine noise continued even after the car was warm. The vacuum pump was diagnosed by the dealership and it was repaired under the manufacturer's warranty. From my understanding, the failure of the vacuum pump could cause the brakes to not respond. In December 2023 the vacuum pump displayed the same knocking/rattling sounds and the dealer diagnosed the vacuum pump as requiring replacement. No warning lamps, messages or other symptoms, other than the noise.

The contact stated that while driving at various highway speeds, the electric power steering assist failed to operate as needed, causing the steering wheel to become stuck. The steering wheel became difficult to turn in either direction. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic who replaced the alternator, but the failure persisted. The local dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure, but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 141,000. The VIN was not available.

I am experiencing a persistent and potentially hazardous steering issue with my 2016 Lexus GS 350 AWD (Luxury Package). At highway speeds (typically 60 mph and above), the steering exhibits a distinct "sticky" or "notchy" sensation around the center position. When driving at highway speeds (65mph-75mph) the steering rack in Lexus gs350 (4th generation models) will seem “sticky” on “swooping turns”. A slight jerk is the only way to get out of this sticky feeling. The steering racks have been a major issue with these cars and seem fairly frequent to malfunction. I personally think, considering safety standpoint, the steering rack should be recalled. BOTH HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT WHILE DRIVING IN THE RAIN AT NIGHT. I AM TOLD THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM, WATER GETS INTO THE SEALED HEAD LAMP AND SHORTS OUT THE BALIST. *TR I WAS ALMOST HIT AS ANOTHER CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF ME BEFORE I REALIZED BOTH HEAD LIGHTS HAD SHORTED OUT. THEY TURN BACK ON ONCE RESET BUT GO OUT WITH OUT WARNING.

NEARLY CRASHED INTO THE BACK OF A LEXUS SEDAN SLOWING FOR FULL SPEED TOLL PAYMENT. EVEN THOUGH THE VEHICLE HAD DAYTIME DRIVING LIGHTS, THERE WAS NO INDICATION IN THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. HEAVY RAIN WAS AFFECTING VISIBILITY AND THE LACK OF ANY REAR LIGHT INDICATIONS NEARLY LEAD TO A MULTIPLE VEHICLE CRASH. I BELIEVE THIS CONDITION EXISTS ON MOST VEHICLES WITH DAYTIME RUNNING LIGHTS AND MAY VERY WELL HAVE LED TO NUMEROUS FATAL ACCIDENTS. NO LIGHT ON THE READ OF A VEHICLE DURING POOR VISIBILITY CONDITIONS CAN NO DOUBT LEAD TO RE-END CRASHES. *…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
