There have been at least four other reports, in which vehicles were on the road when this occurred and the vehicles shutdown with little to no time to find a safe spot to pull over. There have been at least four other reports, in which vehicles were on the road when this occurred and the vehicles shutdown with little to no time to find a safe spot to pull over. This seems to be an issue with either the main EV battery or the 12V accessory battery.

On one occasion, with the shifter set to reverse, pressing on the accelerator resulted in the car lurching forward. This problem first appeared in April 2023. I do not know if this is a drive problem, software problem, or something else. My safety was put at risk as I nearly hit the back wall of the garage. I have reported this problem to Lucid some time ago but Lucid has not responded. Neither Lucid nor any other entity has attempted to inspect or make any corrections. There were no warnings or symptoms from the car prior to the problem. Some …

It appears that Lucid has a defect with the design of their airbags. I have been able to replicate sitting in every Lucid Air vehicle I have tried an issue I discovered with mine which will cause the passenger airbag to constantly turn in and off during driving. This has been escalated to the highest levels of Lucid where the statement is that the bags comply with NHTSA standards and I just need to change the way I am sitting. I have never had this issue in any other vehicles. So my belief is that there is either a fundamental design flaw with…

I am reporting a safety concern involving the airbag system of my 2025 Lucid Air (VIN: [XXX] ). I brought the vehicle to Lucid’s Tysons, VA service center due to a thumping sensation in the steering wheel while turning. On [XXX] Lucid diagnosed the issue as internal play in the bracket that mounts the driver airbag. Instead of replacing the bracket or steering wheel assembly, the technician applied “sound dampening tape” to eliminate movement and reinstalled the original parts. This raises serious concerns about compliance with FMVSS 208, whic…

On July 21, 2026, a catastrophic safety defect occurred involving sudden, unprompted vehicle acceleration and a complete loss of braking capability. While operating the vehicle in reverse, it experienced a sudden, violent, and uncommanded surge in acceleration. Simultaneously, the braking system completely failed to respond to the driver's input, resulting in an initial collision with a vehicle parked across the street. The driver managed to carefully maneuver and limp the vehicle back home to the residential driveway. Upon arriving at the dr…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

On Saturday [XXX], in Chino Hills, CA (ZIP Code 91709), my 2023 Lucid Air Touring experienced a sudden unintended acceleration event. Shortly after releasing the accelerator pedal to obtain a parking pass, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated at a high speed, resulting in a collision with the pavement and a post on the premises. This incident bears similarities to the all-weather mat recall; however, Lucid has confirmed that my vehicle's mats are not listed under the recall. The failure appears to be related to the Lucid electric propulsion sy…

The vehicle became completely inoperable suddenly while driving on the road due to a "drive unit failure." Fortunately, I was still at an intersection when this occurred. I don't what would have happened if I was in motion, especially at higher speed on a highway. The car was towed to the nearest Lucid service center, but it remains there over 6 weeks later as they are not able to fix the problem.

The car is set to not roll when stopped and has regenerative braking when the accelerator is released, the exact opposite of what is supposed to occur is what happened. The company was contacted.

2022 Lucid Air suffered a total loss of power without any warning at approximately 10 PM on July 29, 2023, while driving 65+ mph on the Jersey Turnpike. Some …
