16V203000 · Steering

Reported: 2016-04-11 (April 11, 2016) · Model years: 2016

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2016 CX-3 vehicles manufactured June 1, 2015, to December 2, 2015, 2013-2014 Mazda2 vehicles manufactured July 3, 2013, to August 8, 2014, 2014-2016 CX-5 vehicles manufactured January 19, 2013, to December 2, 2015, and 2013-2015 CX-9 vehicles manufactured December 6, 2012, to July 31, 2015. The lower mounting nuts and bolts that attach the front strut assembly to the steering knuckle may loosen, allowing the steering knuckle to separate.

Consequence: If the steering knuckle separates from the strut assembly, it can cause a loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Mazda will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the lower mounting nuts and bolts that secure the front strut assembly to the steering knuckle. If the bolts are loose, they will be replaced and then correctly tightened, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin May 20, 2016. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 9316D.

16V644000 · Structure:Body:Hatchback/Liftgate

Reported: 2016-09-06 (September 6, 2016) · Model years: 2016

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain model year 2010-2013 Mazda3 and Mazdaspeed3 vehicles manufactured November 18, 2008, to June 8, 2013, 2012-2015 Mazda5 vehicles manufactured October 26, 2010, to June 22, 2015, 2016 CX-3 vehicles manufactured June 1, 2015, to December 26, 2015, and 2013-2016 CX-5 vehicles manufactured December 15, 2011, to December 26, 2015. On the affected vehicles, the lift gate support struts may corrode, possibly causing the struts to break and/or the lift gate to drop unexpectedly.

Consequence: If the lift gate falls unexpectedly, it may hit the user, increasing their risk of injury.

Remedy: Mazda dealers will replace the both lift gate supports, free of charge, however parts are not currently available. The recall began April 2017. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500. Mazda's number for this recall is 9916H.

Reported: 2023-07-14 (July 14, 2023) · Model years: 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2014-2018 Mazda3 and 2016-2021 CX-3 vehicles. The rearview camera image may not display properly by showing a flickering or distorted image.

Consequence: A rearview camera that does not display properly can reduce the driver's rear view, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Remedy: Dealers will inspect and replace the rearview camera, as necessary. In addition, dealers will install a wiring harness fastening seal. All repairs will be performed free of charge. Interim notification letters, notifying owners of the safety risk, were mailed September 13, 2023. Final owner letters for affected models and model years in the states of CT, MA, MD, NJ, NY, PA and VA were mailed August 14, 2024. The remaining owner notification letters will be mailed at a future date, anticipated on or before May 1, 2025. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500, Option 6. Mazda's number for this recall is 6023G.

21V875000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Fuel Pump

Reported: 2021-11-12 (November 12, 2021) · Model years: 2019

Mazda North American Operations (Mazda) is recalling certain 2018 Mazda3, Mazda6, 2019 CX-3, 2018-2019 MX-5, CX-5, CX-9, and 2019-2020 Mazda2 vehicles. The impeller inside the low-pressure fuel pump may crack and deform, potentially causing the fuel pump to fail.

Consequence: Fuel pump failure may cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will replace the fuel pumps, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed July 18, 2022. Owners may contact Mazda customer service at 1-800-222-5500 Option 4. Mazda's number for this recall is 5321K.

The instrument cluster in my 2021 Mazda CX-3 failed at approximately 50,000 miles. These safety systems became unavailable due to the instrument cluster failure. An authorized Mazda dealership inspected the vehicle and attempted to reprogram (re-image) the instrument cluster, but the repair was unsuccessful. The dealership confirmed that the instrume…

WHILE DRIVING ON A 4-LANE ROAD (~45 MPH), THE VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER AND DIED. THE CHECK ENGINE AND BATTERY WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON AND THE START/STOP BUTTON LIGHT TURNED RED. AFTER COASTING INTO A GAS STATION, THE CAR COULD NOT INITIALLY BE RESTARTED. IT COULD BE RESTARTED AFTER ADDING GASOLINE, ALTHOUGH THE FUEL TANK WAS NOT EMPTY WHEN THE CAR DIED. THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWED 1/8 TANK, AND 9.3 GALLONS FUEL COULD BE ADDED TO THE TANK, WHICH HAS A CAPACITY OF 11.9 GALLONS. AFTER ADDING FUEL AND RESTARTING, ALL WARNING LIGHTS WENT OFF AND THE CAR C…

Engine stalled while driving and all the dashboard lights turned on. Could not turn engine back on again. Upon inspection, it was found that the fuel injector pump was faulty and was subsequently replaced by the dealership. Fast forward a year, check engine light came on and vehicle began to stall again. Dealership states that the fuel injector burnt out due to the initial fault in the fuel injector pump. Furthermore, it burnt out my catalyst.

THE HEADLAMPS CONTAIN AND HOLD MOISTURE CAUSING A SOFTER LIGHT AND LESS VISIBILITY. I AM AFRAID THE MOISTURE WILL CAUSE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS IN THE FUTURE.

The instrument cluster in my 2021 Mazda CX-3 failed at approximately 50,000 miles. While driving, the vehicle displayed multiple warning lights, including Dynamic Stability Control (DSC), Smart City Brake Support (SCBS), traction control, and front camera/safety system warnings. These safety systems became unavailable due to the instrument cluster failure. An authorized Mazda dealership inspected the vehicle and attempted to reprogram (re-image) the instrument cluster, but the repair was unsuccessful. The dealership confirmed that the instrume…

I BOUGHT A MAZDA CX-3 ON DECEMBER 31ST 2015. ON JANUARY 27TH I DROVE THE CAR FROM HOME TO WORK FOR 20 MINUTES AND I ENTERED PARKING LOT WITH MAY BE 15 MILES AN HOUR! I MADE MY 90 DEGREE TURN INTO PARKING STALL WITH MAY BE 5 MILES AN HOUR AND PUSHED THE BRAKE TO FULLY STOP! CAR ALMOST STOPPED BUT SUDDENLY SOMETHING WEIRD HAPPENED AND CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED! IT STOPPED BY HITTING THE SNOW BANK AND ANOTHER CAR! I AM SHOCKED AND VERY SCARED!

IN THE PAST 4 MONTHS OF OWNING THE VEHICLE I HAVE HAD 4 EPISODES OF UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. EACH TIME WHEN SLOWING TO A STOP, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, AND SUDDENLY THE CAR LURCHED FORWARD AS THE ENGINE REVVED, AND THE BRAKE WAS INEFFECTIVE AT STOPPING THE CAR. TWO OF THE EPISODES COULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT WITHOUT QUICK EVASIVE ACTION ON MY PART. I HAVE ALSO HAD SEVERAL EPISODES OF THE ENGINE SUDDENLY REVVING ON START UP (WITHOUT DEPRESSING THE GAS PEDAL). *TR

WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH ON THE INTERSTATE, VEHICLE STALLED AND STARTED JERKING, UNABLE TO ACCELERATE, LOSING SPEED QUICKLY. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO MOVE ONTO THE SHOULDER, AVOIDING A SEMI TRUCK APPROACHING QUICKLY BEHIND, AND ANOTHER SEMI TRUCKED PARKED ALONG THE INTERSTATE BLOCKING ACCESS TO THE SHOULDER.

I put my right signals on and came to a near stop, as I did a right turn into the parking space in front of the dry cleaners. I was slowly creeping into the parking space, and pushing the brakes, as I slowed down to a near stop in the parking spot. All of a sudden, as my right foot was still on the brakes, I felt the car lurch forward, and felt myself pulled back into my seat from the velocity, as the car suddenly accelerated forward out of control! I had NO CONTROL OVER THE CAR! I saw myself speeding towards the drycleaners’ glass window s…

The contact's daughter owns a 2016 Mazda CX-3. The contact stated that while her daughter's vehicle was in reverse(R), the vehicle failed to stop upon the depression of the brake pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that her daughter engaged the parking brake; however, the vehicle continued to roll back until the vehicle hit a curb and stopped. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who noted that the failure was not brake related but was a computer malfunction. The contact called a dealer who referred her…

Fuel injector failed without warning. A lot of fuel leaked into the engine destroying a spark plug in one cylinder and ultimately ruining the catalytic converter when fuel got into it. Independent mechanic and Mazda dealership diagnosed. Car cannot be driven.
