The vehicle had the original OEM battery fail at 15 months. It dropped to 7v under light load. It's a bad battery. Upon being jump started, the power steering went in and out while driving and the dashboard blinked on and off...throwing a lot of errors that are unrelated to the battery problem. The failure state of the vehicle with a bad battery is unlike any vehicle I have ever seen and it is extremely dangerous. Furthermore, Mazda roadside assistance does not know about this issue and only offers jumpstarts, putting customers into danger by s…

Two things here. One is when using adaptive cruise control; when there is a car in front that is going slower than your speed your car will slow down. But when it goes out of the way the car will just rev up as much as it can and just catch up to speed. My Camry before this had two options of speeding up; one slower than the other so it saves the transmission. Also, my engine would randomly be at higher rpm’s than usual when at park. It would idle higher than go lower than back and forth. I’ve experienced it during cruise control when randomly …

At 10:16 am, I was driving home on Hall Rd. in Michigan. Hall Road is currently under construction and only two lanes are open and the speed is 40mph. It was raining pretty hard and also very windy. I purchased this brand new 2023 Mazda CX-50 at the end of this July, and it has no incidents, no hits, no scratches at all. Last Sunday while driving it, out of no where, the 'Vehicle System Malfunction' message showed up and I dropped my car at the dealership right away. There was the weird sound from the front of the vehicle every time I braked to 10 mph, and I don't want to take risk of my own to drive it anymore. I brought my vehicle to Safford Mazda of Fredericksburg on Monday, December 15, 2025 due to a front-end clunking that occurs during left or right turns. A service representative test-drove the vehicle with me and was able to hear and duplicate the noise. To often does the safety system disable with what I'm told is dirt or fog by the dealer but I've had many newer vehicles with this safety suite of systems and none of them had this problem unless sensors cameras were full of snow. Possible camera or sensor issue not sure. My buddy has a Mazda cx5 never sees the system disable. Heavy rain does mine. Sometimes a little moisture and colder temperatures. I was pulling into a parking spot and the emergency braking system applied the brakes very forcefully as if a collision was imminent. I backed up and saw nothing in the parking spot and then proceeded to pull back into the same spot with no issue. There was a loud and rhythmic thumping sound that I perceived as the abs system engaging. This is a rental car so I am returning it to the company, National rental car, and swapping out for a new vehicle. I contacted Mazda about this and was given a case # 00434431.

I am reporting a potential safety-related defect involving premature axle failure on Mazda CX-50 vehicles. The axle appears to be prone to early failure under normal driving conditions, sometimes at relatively low mileage. These reports are publicly documented on online owner forums and Reddit, suggesting a pattern rather than isolated incidents. Axl…

On 02/27/2026, a 2024 Mazda CX-50 (20700 miles) exhibited a severe burning smell following a 3-hour highway drive and a subsequent steep, 2-mile mountain climb to a restaurant in Jasper, TN. The smell was strongly observed by multiple occupants upon exiting the vehicle. On 03/02/2026, a technician at Mazda of Knoxville confirmed via video a 'flat grease ring' slung onto the undercarriage, indicative of a centrifugal lubricant leak from the driveshaft/CV assembly. The anti pinch system did not detect the pinch and it crumpled the roof and liftgate at the seam. I tried to stop it but there was too much pressure and by the time it stopped lifting under my body weight significant damage had occurred. If a finger had been there it would have been chopped off.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
