Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

24V766000 · Exterior Lighting

Reported: 2024-10-15 (October 15, 2024) · Model years: 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2010-2024 Rear Loader vehicles. The license plate light was installed in the wrong location and may not fully illuminate the license plate. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."

Consequence: An improperly illuminated license plate reduces the vehicle's visibility to other drivers, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Dealers will relocate the light free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 2, 2024. Owners may contact McNeilus Customer Service at 1-888-686-7278.

15V572000 · Equipment

Reported: 2015-09-14 (September 14, 2015) · Model years: 2013, 2014, 2015

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc., (McNelius) is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 McNeilus Bridge Master Mixer, Standard Mixer, Sliding Trailer Mixer, Standard Rear Loader, Rear Loader w/3.5 YD HD Tail, Zero Radius Automated, Auto Reach, Atlantic Front Loader, Split Body Rear Loader, Rear Loader w/Tag Axle, Metro Pak Rear Loader, XXC Rear Loader, and Pacific Front Loader vehicles manufactured August 1, 2013, to May 14, 2015. These concrete mixers and refuse trucks are equipped with certain Kidde plastic valve disposable handheld fire extinguishers that may not properly discharge when the lever is pressed.

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not work correctly, there is an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: McNeilus will notify owners, and advise them to follow the provided instructions from Kidde to inspect their fire extinguishers. Kidde will replace the fire extinguishers as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on October 19, 2015. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278. McNeilus' number for this recall is Kidde: CPSC 15-079.

19V656000 · Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly:Pressure Relief Devices

Reported: 2019-09-17 (September 17, 2019) · Model years: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Bridgemaster Mixer, Standard Mixer, Model 49 Autoreach Side Loader, Model 48 Zero Radius Side Loader, Model 78 Meridian Front Loader, Model 29 Atlantic Front Loader, Model 87 Contender Front Loader, Model 42 Manual Automated Side Loader, Model 16 3.5 yard TG Rear Loader, Model 11 Heavy Duty Rear Loader, Model 66 40.60 Split Body Rear Loader, Model 10 Standard Rear Loader, Model 12 Tailgate Tag Axle Rear Loader, and Model 13 High Compaction Rear Loader vehicles. The vehicles are powered with compressed natural gas (CNG) and are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRD) that may not function as designed, failing to vent a buildup of pressure, such as could occur if the CNG tank was exposed to fire.

Consequence: If the PRD does not activate in the event of a buildup of pressure, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury.

Remedy: McNeilus will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the PRD's, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 30, 2019. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
