Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

19V656000 · Fuel System, Other:Storage:Tank Assembly:Pressure Relief Devices

Reported: 2019-09-17 (September 17, 2019) · Model years: 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2013-2018 Bridgemaster Mixer, Standard Mixer, Model 49 Autoreach Side Loader, Model 48 Zero Radius Side Loader, Model 78 Meridian Front Loader, Model 29 Atlantic Front Loader, Model 87 Contender Front Loader, Model 42 Manual Automated Side Loader, Model 16 3.5 yard TG Rear Loader, Model 11 Heavy Duty Rear Loader, Model 66 40.60 Split Body Rear Loader, Model 10 Standard Rear Loader, Model 12 Tailgate Tag Axle Rear Loader, and Model 13 High Compaction Rear Loader vehicles. The vehicles are powered with compressed natural gas (CNG) and are equipped with pressure relief devices (PRD) that may not function as designed, failing to vent a buildup of pressure, such as could occur if the CNG tank was exposed to fire.

Consequence: If the PRD does not activate in the event of a buildup of pressure, the CNG tank may explode, increasing the risk of fire and injury.

Remedy: McNeilus will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and replace the PRD's, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began October 30, 2019. Owners may contact McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

24V632000 · Equipment:Mechanical

Reported: 2024-08-22 (August 22, 2024) · Model years: 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2015-2024 Zero Radius refuse trucks. The side loader arm may not be properly secured, resulting in unexpected movement while driving.

Consequence: A side loader arm that unexpectedly extends out from the vehicle body while driving increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: McNeilus will provide new latch assemblies, free of charge. In addition, a McNeilus technician will update the vehicle software, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed October 18, 2024. Owners may contact McNeilus' customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

22V716000 · Equipment

Reported: 2022-09-23 (September 23, 2022) · Model years: 2021, 2022, 2023

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2021-2023 Zero Radius trucks. The ejector welds may fail, causing pressure and force to be placed on the hydraulic cylinder, which can cause it to penetrate through the side of the truck body.

Consequence: A hydraulic cylinder that penetrates the side of a truck body increases the risk of injury.

Remedy: McNeilus will either send service representatives to repair affected vehicles or ship parts to customers, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on November 21, 2022. Owners may contact McNeilus' customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

24V914000 · Fuel System, Other

Reported: 2024-12-06 (December 6, 2024) · Model years: 2024

McNeilus Truck & Manufacturing, Inc. (McNeilus) is recalling certain 2024 Atlantic and Zero Radius Side Loader vehicles equipped with certain Agility Fuel Solutions CNG Fuel Systems, using part number 10300466. The manual cylinder valves may develop stress corrosion cracks in the bottom plugged port, causing a leak.

Consequence: A natural gas leak in the presence of an ignition source increases the risk of a fire.

Remedy: Agility will replace the valves, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed January 17, 2025 by Agility. Owners may contact Agility customer service at 1-844-474-7400 or McNeilus customer service at 1-888-686-7278.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
