2020 AMG GLC 43 coupe here in Harrison, NJ. My driving style with this vehicle isn't different in any relevant way versus with past vehicles. There is an acceleration dead spot which is the default occurrence when I am coasting at a low speed and then go to accelerate. Common scenarios are driving toward an intersection and rolling forward as you determine if you are clear to go and then accelerating, or slowing down to let a car in the lane next to you go by so you can then switch lanes and accelerate. The transmission intermittently shifts hard. When accelerating the car hesitates badly then lurches forward. The Dealer verified the concern, the transmission as a hard shift from 1-2nd. They performed various procedures to the hardware, but ultimately determined the problem is the software and that this is a known issue to Mercedes since early in the year. They have not been able to resolve the software issue. This creates a major safety hazard: 1. When changing lanes, the hesitation does not allow for proper acceleration creating a timi…

2021 Mercedes GLC 43 headlight is inoperable. Same as reported in campaign 22V261000: "Headlight failure can decrease visibility for both the driver and surrounding traffic, increasing the risk of a crash." Although our car was produced before the dates reported in campaign 22V261000, I believe this is the same defect and the recall should apply to all MY 2021 cars as this is a serious safety issue. The dealer will not repair under warranty.

The vehicle has an ongoing transmission downshifting malfunction. The powertrain unexpectedly downshifts while driving, causing sudden changes in speed and unstable vehicle behavior. The issue can be inspected at any time, as the defect occurs intermittently and has not been repaired. This malfunction puts my safety and the safety of others at risk because the vehicle can slow down abruptly or shift aggressively without any input from the driver. This can create dangerous situations in traffic, especially at highway speeds or during accelerati…

The dealer recommends a full reseal of the front covers at a quoted cost of $1,944. 2. The suspension has malfunctioned on a car with only 89,000 miles. Upon starting the car, the vehicle says to please wait while it is rising. However, when I drive it, a red alert says to stop driving because it's too low to drive, and the car looks very low and lopsided. This is a safety concern when driving on the highway and around town. This appears to be an issue on other Mercedes models, such as the 2020 model; please consider 2019 as a year of concern as well.

Moisture began collecting inside the left headlight assembly, even though the housing should be sealed. Over time, the condensation increased and the front left turn signal failed. The vehicle displayed warning messages for the turn signal, low beams, Blind Spot Assist, Traffic Sign Assist, and Active Brake Assist. The failed turn signal reduces the vehicle's visibility to other drivers and creates a potential safety hazard. A similar moisture intrusion issue was the subject of NHTSA Recall 22V-261 for certain 2021 Mercedes-Benz GLC vehicles, b…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

At around 11pm on Monday, Sept 20, 2021 I was driving approximately 65 mph on the highway when the vehicle began to abruptly decelerate for no apparent reason, even when I was pushing on the accelerator pedal. Hi, Improper gear shifting. Vehicle engine light comes on with Error Code P073E, "reverse gear cannot be engaged" Vehicle would shift gear back into neutral position when put to Drive. When vehicle is able to be put in gear Reverse or Drive, a loud noise and shaking would occur. When driven, vehicle is in Limp Mode and can only go up of Gear 5. (this is a 9G Tronic, 9 gears in total) As I was backing up into street from a parking stall, I was not able to put the vehicle in Drive to proceed forward. Traffic was building up. Driver panicked.
