Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

24V546000 · Electrical System:Propulsion System:Charging:Module:Software

Reported: 2024-07-22 (July 22, 2024) · Model years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2021-2024 E-450, 2019-2023 F-59, and 2019-2020 F-53 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The vehicle control software could misclassify a loss of isolation between the chassis and high voltage system, shutting down the high voltage (HV) batteries.

Consequence: The shutdown of the HV batteries can cause a loss of power steering, brake power assist, and drive power, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Motiv will release an over-the-air (OTA) software update, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed September 5, 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

24V698000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2024-09-19 (September 19, 2024) · Model years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2017-2020 E-450 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 4 EPIC and 2020-2023 F-53 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. The wiring harness may be missing a heat shrink insulator and retention clip. The 12-volt control wires may deteriorate and loosen, causing a loss of connection to the high voltage (HV) batteries and drive power.

Consequence: A loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Motiv field support technicians will inspect and correct any loose wiring, and replace damaged 12-volt control wires, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed November 21, 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

25V137000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Throttle:Throttle Position Sensor (Tps) | Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2025-03-03 (March 3, 2025) · Model years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2017-2020 E-450 and F-59 vehicles with Gen 4 EPIC powertrain, 2020-2023 E-450, F-59, and F-53 vehicles with a Gen 5 EPIC powertrain, and 2023-2025 Motiv F-59 and F-53 vehicles with a Gen 6 EPIC powertrain. A throttle position sensor (TPS) power wire connector pin may loosen, causing a loss of signal to the powertrain control module and a loss of drive power.

Consequence: Loss of drive power increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Motiv field support technicians will inspect and repair, or replace the PCM connector, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed April 23, 2025. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

25V261000 · Electrical System:Propulsion System:Fuses, Relays, Contacts, And Shunts | Structure:Critical Fasteners

Reported: 2025-04-18 (April 18, 2025) · Model years: 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2019-2022 F-53 and F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 5 EPIC powertrain. A support bracket may fatigue and break, allowing the main power disconnect to contact other structures and short.

Consequence: An electrical short can shut down the high voltage system, resulting in a loss of drive power and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Motiv field support technicians will replace the bracket, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed June 9, 2025. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

25V456000 · Electrical System:Propulsion System:Traction Battery

Reported: 2025-07-08 (July 8, 2025) · Model years: 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024

Motiv Power Systems, Inc. (Motiv) is recalling certain 2021-2024 F-59 vehicles equipped with a Motiv Gen 6 EPIC powertrain. The high voltage battery pack may be improperly sealed and allow liquid to enter the battery.

Consequence: Liquid intrusion into a battery pack can cause a loss of electrical isolation or short circuit, increasing the risk of a fire or shock hazard.

Remedy: Motiv worked with Our Next Energy to inspect and repair the battery packs as necessary, free of charge. All affected vehicles were repaired by November 2024. Owners may contact Motiv customer service at 1-650-458-4804.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
