Year-by-year records
Recall history
2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
05V068000 · Steering:Linkages:Tie Rod Assembly
Reported: 2005-03-01 (March 1, 2005) · Model years: 2004, 2005
ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH ARVINMERITOR URRESKO TIE ROD CLAMPS, HEAT TREATMENT OF CLAMPS CREATED A SURFACE HARDNESS THAT COULD LEAD TO A FRACTURE OF THE CLAMPS.
Consequence: IN THE EVENT OF A CRACK, THE CLAMPS COULD BREAK OFF AFFECTING TOE-IN AND ALIGNMENT. THE TIE ROD CAN COME LOOSE RESULTING IN STEERING LOSS AND A CRASH COULD OCCUR WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING.
Remedy: ARVINMERITOR IS CONDUCTING THE OWNER NOTIFICATION AND REMEDY FOR THIS CAMPAIGN. OWNERS MAY CONTACT ARVINMERITOR AT 1-866-668-7221 OR NEOPLAN AT 719-336-3256.
NHTSA campaign record ↗05V321000 · Structure:Body:Door
Reported: 2005-07-14 (July 14, 2005) · Model years: 2005
ON CERTAIN TRANSIT BUSES EQUIPPED WITH VAPOR DOOR ASSEMBLIES, THE TWO PIECE CURVED CONNECTING RODS WHEN USED AS AN ELEMENT OF THE DOOR ACTUATION LINKAGE IN CONJUNCTION WITH A VAPOR MEDIUM PNEUMATIC DIFFERENTIAL ENGINE, MAY BE SUBJECT TO FATIGUE FAILURE RESULTING IN BENDING OR BREAKING OF THE CONNECTING ROD.
Consequence: A BROKEN CONNECTING ROD CAN ALLOW THE DOOR PANEL TO MOVE FREELY IN AN UNCONTROLLED MANNER, LEAVING PASSENGERS INSIDE THE VEHICLE UNPROTECTED BY THE DOOR PANEL AND ENABLING A PROTRUDING DOOR PANEL TO STRIKE PERSONS OR OBJECTS OUTSIDE THE VEHICLE.
Remedy: NEOPLAN IS WORKING WITH VAPOR BUS INTERNATIONAL TO NOTIFY OWNERS AND HAVE THE REPAIR PERFORMED ON THEIR VEHICLES. THE REMEDY CONSISTS OF REPLACING THE TWO PIECE CONNECTING ROD WITH A ONE PIECE CONNECTING ROD. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VAPOR AT 1-847-777-6400 OR NEOPLAN AT 1-719-336-3256.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2004: 0 complaints · 2005: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2004 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2005 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2004 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2005 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
