At approximately 18,500 miles, my 2023 Nissan Ariya experienced a brake system failure while driving. The vehicle exhibited abnormal braking behavior and reduced braking performance, creating a serious safety concern. I was able to safely stop the vehicle, but the failure could have resulted in an accident. The vehicle was taken to a Nissan dealership for inspection. The diagnosis revealed severe and premature wear of the rear brake pads and significant damage to the rear rotors. The dealership also recommended replacement of the entire rear br…

My infant daughter became stuck in the rear seat due to a seat belt malfunction in my Nissan Ariya Evolve+. The seat belt buckle would not release even after repeated attempts to press the release button. We tried multiple times to unbuckle it normally, but it remained stuck and would not open. This created a serious safety situation, as my child was trapped and unable to be freed. Due to the emergency, we had no option but to cut the seat belt in order to safely remove our child. This is extremely concerning because seat belts are a critica…

The vehicle’s EV system and related electrical components appear to be malfunctioning, causing repeated “EV System Off” error messages and rendering the vehicle inoperable. The vehicle is currently at the dealership and available for inspection upon request. The defect created a significant safety risk because the vehicle became unreliable and could unexpectedly fail to operate, leaving me stranded and without dependable transportation. This placed both myself and others at risk, especially if the failure occurred while driving or in traffic. …

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2023 Nissan Ariya involving an apparent failure of the 12-volt battery and/or electrical system. While parked overnight in my driveway, powered off, and not plugged in nor charging, the front battery/engine compartment began sizzling, overheating, and producing smoke. The heat caused internal damage and disabled the vehicle. This created a serious fire risk because the incident occurred at my home while the vehicle was unattended and inactive and it happened without any earlier signs or warning. My b…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

3 days after purchasing the vehicle the forward collision warning light and rear cross traffic light came on. The forward collision light warning also came and and deactivated my cruise controls. It was taken back to the dealer for a diagnostic which was unsuccessful and did not show any errors. The car was given back to us and 3 days later while my wife was taking the kids to school, the same errors occurred plus the dashboard went dark, and the driver's seat inflating back rest started to inflate and deflate. The car was taken back to th…

I had just left the [XXX] on the [XXX] when our Ariya suddenly lost power at highway speeds. It felt like a very dangerous situation, because there are very long distances between exits in this area, and the shoulder is somewhat narrow in spots. The high voltage battery had been DC fast charged to 95% at said service area minutes earlier. But the display suddenly went to 0%, turtle mode appeared, and the message “Warning Service EV System” showed on the display. For some reason, the windshield wipers also activated momentarily, despite it being…

We pulled up to an EVGO Charging station with 27% battery charge & 57 miles available. When we hooked up to the charging station it didn't recognize the vehicle & advised to detach & reconnect. We repeated this step 5 times before calling EVGO customer support. They rebooted the charging station & discovered it was the vehicle malfunctioning. My 2025 with only 764 miles on it read EV System Off. The entire car is an EV & it would not start. We couldn't move the vehicle out of the way for others to charge so they parked as close as they could to…

Upon driving the vehicle home from the dealership (40 miles), the vehicle was parked inside the garage with the front facing the garage door.
