Failure mileage by component
Median and middle 50% of usable owner-reported mileages. Ranges require at least five records.

|---|---|---|---|---|
| Structure:Body | Too few reports for a range | 67,213 mi | 2 (sparse) | ODI 11025092 · 68,375 miAFTER PARKING THE TRUCK WHEN THE DRIVER OPENED HIS DOOR THE STEPS DID NOT OPEN UP AND HE FELL TO THE GROUND. AFTER INVESTIGATING THE ACCIDENT WE FOUND THAT THE ACTUATING ROD THAT RAISED AND LOWERS THE STEPS WAS BENT AND PREVENTED THE STEPS FROM LOWERING. WE FEEL THAT THE SYSTEM SHOULD HAVE A FAIL SAFE AND THERE SHOULD BE A LARGER WARNING LABEL THAT CAN BE SEEN FROM THE RIDING POSITION. ODI 11101367 · 66,051 miWHEN THE RIGHT FRONT CAB DOOR WAS OPENED THE PNEUMATIC OPERATED ACCESS STEPS DID NOT LOWER. HAD A PERSON NOT BEEN STANDING OUTSIDE THE TRUCK AND STOPPED THE OCCUPANT FROM EXITING THE TRUCK HE WOULD HAVE FALLEN TO THE GROUND. THIS HAPPENED TO OUR 2005 PIERCE QUANTUM IN SEPTEMBER OF 2017 AND A INJURY DID ACCRUE. THIS UNSAFE CONDITION IS CAUSED BY THE STEP ACTUATING ROD BENDING AND GETTING STUCK IN THE "STEPS UP POSITION". |

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2022: 0 complaints · 2023: 0 complaints

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2022 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2023 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
