MOTORCYCLE SLIPS OUT OF GEAR (USUALLY THIRD) AT UNEXPECTED TIMES. SEVERAL TIMES WHILE PASSING VEHICLES. ONE TIME, I HAD TO PULL INTO THE ONCOMING TRAFFICS SHOULDER TO AVOID A HEAD ON COLLISION. SOME TIMES I COULD GET IT BACK INTO GEAR WHILE COASTING, WHILE OTHER TIMES I HAD TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP. *JB
I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND WITHIN 500 MILES THE TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS STARTED WHEN IN MOTION AND SHIFTING THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION FROM 1ST TO 2ND GEAR (OR FROM 3RD TO 4TH GEAR), THE SOUND OF A MECHANICAL SHIFT IS MADE BUT WHEN THE CLUTCH IS LET OUT THE TRANSMISSION IS STILL IN THE LOWER GEAR CAUSING THE VEHICLE SPEED TO DECREASE DRASTICALLY AND THROWS THE DRIVER OFF BALANCE. MANY TIMES I HAVE HAD CARS FOLLOWING ME THAT HAD TO HIT THEIR BRAKES TO AVOID MY DECREASE IN SPEED BEFORE I COULD CORRECT THE TRANSMISSION SHIFT TO THE CORRECT GEAR. TH…

WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT 35-40 MPH, THE MOTOR LOST POWER WITH CYCLE SHUTTING DOWN. THE OWNER WAS TOLD THAT ONE OF THE LIGHTS HAD BLOWNOUT WHICH AFFECTED THE STARTER, BLOWING A FUSE. THIS OCCURRED AGAIN SEVERAL TIMES LATER, BUT THIS TIME DUE TO A FUEL PUMP FAILING. ALSO, HIT A POTHOLE AND THE KICKSTAND CAME OUT WHILE TURNING LEFT DUE TO SPRING POPPING OFF. *AK * SCC *NLM

I HAVE A 1999 VICTORY MOTORCYCLE, THE BIKE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND THE TRANSMISSION POP'S OUT OF GEAR, SOMETIMES IT'S DOWN SHIFTS WHEN YOU GO TO ACCELERATE. TRIED TO TALKED TO POLARIS WITH NO LUCK, DEALERS HAVE TRIED ON MY BEHALF, BUT THEY SAY THAT POLARIS MIGHT COVER IT IF THE DEALER FINDS SOMETHING WRONG IF NOT I HAVE TO PAY FOR COST OF BREAKDOWN AND PUT BACK TOGETHER. I HAVE COME ACROSS MANY OTHER VICTORY OWNER'S THAT ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM, SO IT SEEMS LIKE A MFG. PROBLEM THAT POLARIS SHOULD FIX. *NM
DT: 1999 POLARIS VICTORY V92C. THE CONTACT STATED THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED INTO A FALSE NEUTRAL AND DOWN SHIFTED ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP, BUT THEY STATED IT WILL HAVE TO BE DISASSEMBLED TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM, AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE DIAGNOSIS. THERE HAS BEEN NO INSPECTION OF OR REPAIRS MADE TO THE VEHICLE DUE TO EXCESSIVE COST. *AK

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
