Reported: 1997-06-12 (June 12, 1997) · Model years: 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, 1996, 1997

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES. THE REAR SUSPENSION FORWARD RADIUS ROD SUPPORT NEEDS REINFORCEMENT AND THE RADIUS ROD RETAINING BOLTS COULD BECOME LOOSE.

Consequence: IF THE ROD SUPPORTS FRACTURED, SEPARATION COULD OCCUR INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL ADD ADDITIONAL REINFORCEMENT PLATES AND CHECK THE BOLTS FOR TIGHTNESS, AND, IF NECESSARY, RETIGHTEN THESE BOLTS.

Reported: 1997-06-19 (June 19, 1997) · Model years: 1996, 1997

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES. THE EMERGENCY EXIT WINDOWS HAVE BEEN BUILT WITHOUT THE LOCKING MECHANISM OF THE UPPER HINGE.

Consequence: THE WINDOWS CAN SEPARATE FROM THE VEHICLE WHEN OPENED TO AN APPROXIMATELY 90 DEGREE ANGLE INCREASING THE RISK OF A VEHICLE CRASH OR PERSONAL INJURY.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL STOPPER BLOCKS SO THE WINDOWS CAN NOT BE OPENED TO A 90 DEGREE ANGLE.

98V239000 · Suspension:Front

Reported: 1998-10-06 (October 6, 1998) · Model years: 1998, 1999

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES. THE BOLTS FIXING THE RADIUS ROD LOCKING TAB PLATES WERE NOT LUBRICATED BEFORE BEING TIGHTENED.

Consequence: IMPROPER TIGHTENING CAN CAUSE LOOSENING OF THE ATTACHMENT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME INCREASING THE RISK OF LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE BOLTS, LUBRICATING THEM, INSTALLING A NEW LOCKING TAB PLATE, AND RETIGHTENING THE BOLTS.

03V091000 · Steering:Gear Box (Other Than Rack And Pinion)

Reported: 2003-03-10 (March 10, 2003) · Model years: 2003, 2004

ON CERTAIN NEW "FACE-LIFT" MOTOR COACHES AND MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH INDEPENDENT FRONT SUSPENSION, A MODIFICATION WAS MADE TO THE STEERING GEARBOX MOUNTING SUPPORT. THE SUPPORT MAY DEVELOP STRESS CRACKS UNDER HEAVY LOAD CONDITIONS.

Consequence: THE STEERING GEARBOX MAY BECOME LOOSE AFFECTING STEERING CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL WELD THREE (3) REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS TO THE GEAR BOX SUPPORT. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MAY 2, 2003. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432.

04V432000 · Suspension

Reported: 2004-09-07 (September 7, 2004) · Model years: 2004

ON CERTAIN MOTOR COACHES AND MOTOR HOMES, CRACKS WERE FOUND IN THE MATERIAL USED TO MAKE SUSPENSION RADIUS ROD PINS.

Consequence: BROKEN ROD PINS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT ALL PARTS AND, IF NECESSARY, REPLACE THE ROD PINS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN DURING SEPTEMBER 2004. CUSTOMERS MAY ALSO CONTACT PREVOST AT 1-418-831-5432.

06V214000 · Steering:Gear Box:Shaft Pitman

Reported: 2006-06-14 (June 14, 2006) · Model years: 2004, 2005

ON CERTAIN MOTOR HOMES EQUIPPED WITH FRONT INDEPENDENT SUSPENSION, TWO SPINDLE SHAFTS WERE IMPROPERLY PROCESSED DURING MANUFACTURING WHICH WEAKENED THE SHAFTS.

Consequence: THE SHAFTS CAN BREAK CAUSING A LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE TWO SPINDLE SHAFTS AND SURROUNDING PARTS FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 12, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT PREVOST AT 418-831-5432.

HAD LEAK AND SMOLDERING OVER THE WEEKEND. THIS RECALL BY ALL MEANS IS ON THE MARK, AND INFORMATION SHOULD BE SENT TO CUSTOMERS OF THIS UNIT TO REPLACE IT AT EXPENSE OF WEBASTO. *JB
