VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT COACHES. THE REINFORCEMENT BRACKETS WERE NOT WELDED ON THE TAG AXLE.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD RESULT IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL WELD THE BRACKETS ON THE TAB AXLE.
NHTSA campaign record ↗00V262000 · Suspension:Front:Control Arm:Upper Ball Joint
Reported: 2000-09-11 (September 11, 2000) · Model years: 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: BUS SHELLS AND COACHES. THE BALL JOINT SEALING BOOT COULD BE PERFORATED ALLOWING GREASE LEAKAGE.
Consequence: THIS CONDITION COULD CAUSE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE BOOT.
NHTSA campaign record ↗97V032000 · Equipment:Other:Labels
Reported: 1997-03-05 (March 5, 1997) · Model years: 1997
THE VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER (VIN) IS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH PART 565, "VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER - CONTENT REQUIREMENTS."

NHTSA campaign record ↗99V092000 · Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Power Assist:Vacuum:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings
Reported: 1999-04-27 (April 27, 1999) · Model years: 1999
VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: TRANSIT BUSES AND BUS SHELLS. SOME BRAKE LINE HOSES MAY HAVE BEEN MANUFACTURED USING HEATER HOSE MATERIAL INSTEAD OF BRAKE LINE HOSE MATERIAL. HEATER HOSES ARE NOT APPROPRIATE FOR USE AS BRAKE LINES BECAUSE THE OPERATING PRESSURE OF THE BRAKING SYSTEM IS MUCH HIGHER THAN THAT OF THE HEATING SYSTEM.
Consequence: THIS COULD RESULT IN SUDDEN BRAKE LINE FAILURE.
Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE HEATER HOSES WITH CORRECT BRAKE LINE HOSES.
NHTSA campaign record ↗18V928000 · Steering:Linkages:Drag:Link:Connection
Reported: 2018-12-21 (December 21, 2018) · Model years: 2000
Prevost Cars, Inc (Prevost) is recalling certain 2000 XL-45 buses, 2000-2006 XL2-45 buses and 2007-2014 X3-45 buses. The draglink tube turnbuckle may fracture causing a loss of steering.
Consequence: A complete loss of steering would increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Prevost has notified owners, and dealers will replace the draglink, free of charge. Prevost issued an interim notification to owners on February 13, 2019. The recall began June 3, 2019. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-866-870-2046. Prevost's number for this recall is SR19-04.

Problems by model year
Model-wide comparison of the eight most reported components across the model. Cells show counts and shares within each model year. Open a cell for source examples.

Darker cells indicate a larger share of submitted complaints. Components overlap. This measures complaint composition, not failure probability.
Failure mileage by component
Median and middle 50% of usable owner-reported mileages. Ranges require at least five records.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
Equal-age model-year comparison
Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
2000: 0 complaints · 2001: 0 complaints
| Model year | Through age 0 | Through age 1 | Through age 2 |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2000 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2001 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2000 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
| 2001 | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
