Reported: 2024-09-27 (September 27, 2024) · Model years: 2023
Royal Enfield North America Limited (Royal Enfield) is recalling certain 2023 Himalayan, Classic 350, Meteor 350, Hunter 350, Super Meteor 650, Int 650, and Continental GT 650 motorcycles. The side and rear reflectors are not sufficient. As such, these lights fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 108, "Lamps, Reflective Devices, and Associated Equipment."
Consequence: Without the proper reflective equipment, it may be difficult for other road users to see the motorcycle from the rear or side, increasing the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Dealers will replace the side and rear reflectors, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed October 30, 2024. Owners may contact Royal Enfield's customer service at 1-866-600-1122. Royal Enfield's number for this recall is SC-43.

The rear brake constantly needs to be bled. If not done, the brake pedal will hit the stop, resulting in little or no brake action. This seems to be a common, recurring issue with many owners reporting the issue in online forums.
Dear NHTSA Safety Team, I am writing to file an urgent safety complaint regarding my 2023 Royal Enfield Interceptor 650, which experienced a catastrophic failure of the rear braking system while I was riding on a public road. On [insert date], while traveling at approximately 50 mph, I heard a loud metallic noise from the rear of the motorcycle. Shortly after, I attempted to slow down using the rear brake to enter my driveway, but the brake pedal went fully down with no braking response whatsoever. Upon inspection, I discovered that one of t…

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.
