Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

93V097000 · Vehicle Speed Control

Reported: 1993-06-07 (June 7, 1993) · Model years: 1987, 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992

PROPER OPERATION OF THE THROTTLE LINKAGE CAN BE RESTRICTED BY INTERFERENCE WITH THE AIR COMPRESSOR BREATHER TUBE.

Consequence: THIS INTERFERENCE CAN PREVENT THE THROTTLE FROMRETURNING TO THE IDLE POSITION, AND COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROLAND AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: THE AIR COMPRESSOR BREATHER TUBE WILL BE REROUTED ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE AIR COMPRESSOR COOLING TUBE (AWAY FROM THE THROTTLE LINKAGE) TO ALLEVIATE ANY INTERFERENCE.

95V064000 · Electrical System:Alternator/Generator/Regulator

Reported: 1995-03-27 (March 27, 1995) · Model years: 1994, 1995

WHEN IN OPERATION, THE PRE-HEATER REQUIRES GOOD ENGINE GROUND. HOWEVER, THE ALTERNATORS ARE NOT GROUNDED THROUGH THE CASE, LIMITING THE GROUND FOR ENGINE ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS. THE PRE-HEATER AMPERAGE CAN THEN GROUND TO THE STEEL BRAIDED AIR COMPRESSOR HOSE WHICH IS SECURED IN A RUBBER LINED CLIP. IN SOME CIRCUMSTANCES, THE CLIP CAN CONTACT THE FRAME RAIL CAUSING AN ARC.

Consequence: THIS CONDITION CAN CAUSE A HOLE TO BE BURNED THROUGH THE AIR LINE, PREVENTING THE AIR COMPRESSOR FROM DELIVERING SUFFICIENT AIR PRESSURE TO THE BRAKING SYSTEM REDUCING BRAKE CAPABILITY AND INCREASING THE POTENTIAL FOR A VEHICLE ACCIDENT.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A 6 GAUGE GROUND CABLE BETWEEN THE ENGINE AND THE EXISTING STARTER GROUND CABLE LOCATED INSIDE THE FRAME RAIL.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
