Owner report 11578317 · 2024-03-19 (March 19, 2024)

Potential safety hazard ? Engine Auto start/stop feature for gas savings and emmisons control works by applying brakes and Engine shuts off, it restarts when brakes released. Normal operation, BUT I have noticed that unbuckeling the seatbelt or OPENING the DOOR will cause it to RESTART even though brakes are applied..this could cause an accident as it's an unexpected RESTART of the Engine in drive. Recommend this feature be disabled until door/seatbelt closed or seatbelt buckled or car in park before restart. Someone thinking car is OFF but…

Dealer installed OEM trailer hitch and wiring harness as part of the new vehicle purchase agreement. Installed prior to my taking delivery at the selling Subaru Dealership. During a service visit today at a local RV/Trailer Retail/Service Center, the technician inspected my hitch and found loose/untightened trailer hitch attachment bolts. Luckly I have never pulled a trailer since purchasing the vehicle. No damage or accidents have occurred because of this. On the morning of 12/26/24 - I stepped inside my 2023 Subaru Crosstrek and turned on the engine. The vehicle was parked in a commuter parking lot near my home to begin with. When I turned on the vehicle - I noticed a loud roaring sound when the engine turned on which i thought was very strange. Additionally I did NOT have my foot on the gas pedal at all during this time. I proceeded to place the car in drive and all of sudden the car experienced a unintended acceleration straight forward with a sudden burst that i never experienced before. …

BOUGHT A BRAND NEW 2019 SUBARU CROSSTREK, A CRACK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE WINDSHIELD JUST APPEARED ONE MORNING AFTER WARMING IT UP IN 20 DEGREE WEATHER, IN MICHIGAN. CRACK STARTED IN THE WIPER HEATING ELEMENT AREA AND THE CRACK SPREAD ALL THE WAY TO THE TOP. NO ROCK CHIPS ARE PRESENT. THE CAR IS JUST OVER 3 MONTHS OLD, 1700 MILES. I READ ELSEWHERE THAT THE NEWER OUTBACKS HAD THE SAME ISSUES. DOES CROSSTREK HAVE THE SAME ISSUES? SUBARU WON'T COVER IT. TOTAL BS.

I WAS DRIVING AT 70 MPH ON SMOOTH INTERSTATE HIGHWAY WITH LIGHT TRAFFIC . THERE WAS A LOUD EXPLOSION. AFTER STOPPING IN A SAFE LOCATION, I DISCOVERED THE MOON ROOF HAD SHATTERED INTO TINY PIECES. I AM POSITIVE THERE WERE NO ROCKS OR STRUCTURES ABOVE..THERE WAS 1500 MILES ON THE CAR. THE SLIDING CEILING WAS CLOSED OR THERE WOULD BE SHATTERED GLASS ALL OVER THE INTERIOR. NO ONE WAS INJURED BUT IT WAS VERY DISTRACTING AND COULD HAVE CAUSED ME TO LOOSE CONTROL. THE MOONROOF GLASS MAY HAVE BEEN FAULTY. THE DEALER REPLACED IT AT NO COST TO ME.

Got my 2023 Crosstrek sport 2 days ago with 6 miles on the odometer. When I first drove it on the freeway today, a rock chip larger than a quarter appeared on my front windshield. I was on an overpass entering the main freeway so I was only going at 55 mph, did not even hear a loud bang when it happened. But given the size and depth of the crack, I have to replace the whole piece of glass. It is bizarre and astonishing how fragile the quality of the brand new windshield is.

THIS IS PARTICULARLY DANGEROUS WHEN PULLING OUT INTO TRAFFIC FROM A DRIVEWAY, OR IF YOU NEED TO QUICKLY MANEUVER TO AVOID A COLLISION. SUBARU TECHNICIANS HAVE INSPECTED THE VEHICLE, AND THEY SAY NOTHING IS WRONG MECHANICALLY. I BELIEVE THIS IS A FLAW IN THE ECM PROGRAMMING. Overall I’m disappointed in the quality of the manufactured parts and accessories. It leads me to believe low grade materials were used in manufacturing this vehicle. My vehicle is brand new and has 2500 miles on it and the front windshield has a crack that is obvious to the naked eye that it was not caused by a rock hitting it while driving. If low grade quality (thin glass) was used to produce this vehicle and it easily breaks/cracks this is a safety hazard for drivers and passengers.

I was driving today January 30th 2026 on the road going 35 mph into the sunlight and all of the sudden my vehicle acted like I slammed on my brakes and I jerked forward almost hitting my chin in the steering wheel. Luckily no one was close behind me or I could have easily been hit. There was nothing in front of me so emergency brakes should not have deployed.
