ON 4TH, JUNE, 2017, I WAS DRIVING THIS 2-MONTH-OLD TESLA MODEL X. WHILE I WAS MAKING A TURN AT ONE OF THE DOWNWARD PASSAGE IN A CARPARK, THE STEERING WHEEL COULD NOT MOVE ALL OF A SUDDEN, AND A WARNING POPPED UP SAYING CAR NEED SERVICE/STEERING ASSIST REDUCED. THEN A WHILE LATER THE STEERING WHEEL COULD MOVE AGAIN ALLOW ME TO FINISH THE TURN, BUT THEN STOPPED WORKING AGAIN LEAVING ME STUCK IN THE CAR PARK. THEIR TECHNICIAN REPLIED THAT THIS HAD HAPPENED TO A NUMBER OF MODEL X CARS BUT ONLY WHILE PARKED AND NOT DURING DRIVING. AFTER INSPE…

MY ONLY COMPLAINT IS THE 'AUTOSTEER' FEATURE. IT'S UNCLEAR WHY THIS IS CONSIDERED AN OPTION AND IT CERTAINLY DOES NOT FUNCTION AS DESCRIBED WHEN I CHECKED IT OFF AS A 5000.00 OPTION UNDER 'ENHANCED AUTOPILOT' WHEN ORDERING MY TESLA. THE SYSTEM IS DANGEROUS, NOT READY FOR BETA TESTING AND CERTAINLY SHOULDN'T BE USED ON PUBLIC ROADWAYS OR WITH ANYONE YOU VALUE IN THE CAR. I CAN SEE IT BEING TESTING ON CLOSED ROADWAYS BY SKILLED PROFESSIONAL DRIVERS BUT OUTSIDE OF THAT IT IS DANGEROUS TO ENGAGE AT ANY SPEED. ON SURFACE STREETS IT CROSSES OVER INTO…

INSTEAD OF ADMITTING THE SAFETY ISSUE, RECALLING THE BATTERY, AND ENSURING A SAFER BATTERY IS INSTALLED, TESLA IS UPDATING SOFTWARE OPAQUELY. During hard rainfall the software of the vehicle issues an error: the windshield wipers, headlights, taillights and turn signal all stop working. Lane assist and parking assist fail as well. Sometimes the vehicle shifts into park when you stop. After stopping the vehicle, the doors won't open so you cannot exit the car. It does not matter if the car is moving or stationary when the software fails. You have to reboot the car and hope it resolves, usually it doesn't, or most often just wait to time the software glitch for the moment when the func…

There is an issue with the GPS in that the location is not accurate, sometimes it is off by 10-20 feet, enough to put it on a different road, sometimes it's off by 100s of feet. This is very dangerous as when using Autopilot, it uses map data to set the cruising speed, and if the GPS is reporting the car is on a different road, the speed can change to being faster or slower than the actual road the car is on. This results in sudden braking. The car will be on the highway, traveling at 55MPH, and then all of a sudden the GPS thinks its on a side…

Tesla has replaced the stalk, normally used for turn signals, into touch screen buttons on the steering wheel. It is very difficult to use these buttons to switch on the turn signal, especially if the steering is not pointing absolutely straight. In other words, if the steering is turned at even a small angle, it becomes almost impossible to press the correct touch screen button without looking down and therefore compromising attention to the road. This can be dangerous, especially at higher speeds, when a fraction of a second delay in respo…

While driving the electronic systems that monitor the brakes as well as traction control malfunction. It happened multiple times. At one point, the steering wheel was not operable. The brakes became inoperable. I had it towed to the Tesla service center where they said they corrected it. However, upon getting the car back it happened again. Car is very unsafe to drive when all systems shut down.

While I attempted to brake; however, none of the speed controls seemed to work. The vehicle hit my 2009 Toyota Camry parked on the left side of my driveway first, then took out the heavy duty…

When it began raining the last time I drove the car, it was nighttime and I had to stop in the middle of the road because the car gets overwhelmed when you hit the wiper button too many times in a row and it stops wiping entirely. My 2025 Model X has a feature commonly called "one pedal drive", where lifting pressure off the gas pedal causes regenerative braking force. This feature is *forced on* at all times, and is unsafe in slippery icy conditions, especially turns, especially downhill. I don't know if this is because of a malfunction of their regen-braking anti-lock (the ABS equvialent), or because it's simply not possible to drive safely in slippery conditions with one-pedal-drive regen braking... but either way, this situation is unsafe. I urge you to investigate…

The main vertical display which shows rear view camera when car is in reverse is extremely slow. My rear view camera at times doesn’t show up until 15-20 seconds of putting the car in reverse and sometimes, the camera doesn’t even come up. This happens frequently on a weekly basis. I think the unit needs to be replaced for the camera and the entire car to be responsive. Now to answer your questions: 1. Yes it is available for inspection upon request 2. By the rear view camera not turning on the second the car is in reverse. This puts everyone’…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

This is regarding two Tesla recalls: - NHTSA Recall Number: 23V-838; TC2023-657 - NHTSA Recall Number: 24V-051 As noted in both recalls, they are to be delivered via software updates. My car is currently running version 2022.8.10.16 7477b4ff8e78 which is clearly lower than the version required for both recalls. I have taken my car to service as my software version is not updating. THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A MULTIPLE-SYSTEM FAILURE. WARNING LIGHTS INDICATED LOSS OF STEERING ASSIST, LOSS OF CRUISE CONTROL, LOSS OF BRAKING ASSIST, AND OTHER SAFETY FEATURES. A RESET OF THE COMPUTER RECTIFIED THE ISSUE, BUT ONLY TEMPORARILY, AND THE SOFTWARE FAILS AGAIN AND AGAIN. IN FAILURE MODE, WHICH COMES ON UNPREDICTABLY, THE BRAKES MAKE A TERRIBLE GRINDING SOUND AND ARE NOT AS EFFECTIVE IN STOPPING THE CAR. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. THE ONSET OF THESE FAILURES IS USUALLY WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING AND OCCURS RANDOMLY.

1. CAR TAKING LONGER TO BOOT UP WHEN PLACING FOOT ON BRAKE PEDAL. 2. LARGE CENTER CONSOLE SCREEN TAKES EVEN LONGER TO BOOT-UP. THIS RESULTED IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION WHERE I WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR, BUT COULD NOT TURN ON THE DEFROSTER. THE WINDSHIELD QUICKLY FOGGED UP AND I HAD NEARLY ZERO VISIBILITY. THANKFULLY, I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY PULL OFF THE ROAD AND WAIT FOR THE CENTER CONSOLE TO EVENTUALLY TURN ON,

Our SUV lost power in the middle of the highway with no warning. After a month of back and forth, Tesla is saying that the High Voltage Battery needs to be replaced. The car has been with Tesla Marietta, GA center waiting for the replacement part with no ETA. How long are we supposed to allow the manufacturer to address the problem per the manufacturer warranty.
