Recall history

12 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

12V574000 · Vehicle Speed Control:Cruise Control | Exterior Lighting:Brake Lights | Electrical System

Reported: 2012-12-11 (December 11, 2012) · Model years: 2013

Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling certain model year 2011 through 2013 Tuscany, Astoria, Ultrasport, Montecito, and Palazzo recreational vehicles manufactured from May 17, 2010, through October 30, 2012, built on Freightliner brand XB and XC custom chassis. The vehicles are equipped with diode jumpers that may come loose in their connectors resulting in an open circuit. Two circuits are affected: The one that disengages the cruise control with brake pedal use, and the one that illuminates the brake lights with brake pedal use.

Consequence: Failure of the cruise control to disengage when the brakes are applied may increase the risk of a vehicle crash. Without the brake lights illuminating when the brakes are applied, the driver's intent is not communicated, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Daimler Trucks (DTNA) will notify owners on behalf of Thor, and Freightliner dealers will inspect the diode jumpers to make sure they are fully locked in place and will correct the vehicles as needed. The recall is expected to begin January 28, 2013. Owners should contact DTNA Warranty Campaigns Department at (800) 547-0712, 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Pacific Time Monday through Friday, e-mail address [email protected], or the Customer Assistance Center at (800) FTL-HELP after normal business hours.

13V164000 · Equipment

Reported: 2013-04-25 (April 25, 2013) · Model years: 2013

Thor Motor Coach is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Challenger, Four Winds 5000, Hurricane, Chateau, Chateau Sport, and Windsport; model year 2013 Palazzo and Four Winds Siesta and model year 2014 Majestic motorhomes manufactured February 13, 2013, through April 09, 2013. If the awning installation sequence was not completely followed, the awning motor may unknowningly become damaged. A damaged motor may lead to an unfurling of the awning.

Consequence: If motor damage occurs, it is possible that the awning can unfurl unexpectedly, either while the motorhome is at rest or while in transit, increasing the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

Remedy: Thor Motor Coach will notify owners and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with a design that is not subject to an out-of-sequence installation error. The recall began during May 2013. Owners may contact Thor at 1-877-855-2867 or Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 for more information. Owners are being instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed.

Reported: 2017-11-22 (November 22, 2017) · Model years: 2013, 2014

Thor Motor Coach (Thor) is recalling various 2003-2018 recreational vehicles, equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. See a list of the affected trailer models at: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17V758-5764.pdf. These extinguishers may become clogged, preventing the extinguisher from discharging as expected or excessive force may be needed to activate the extinguisher. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force that it could cause injury and also render the product inoperable. For a full list of the affected fire extinguisher models visit: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2017/RMISC-17E062-5427.pdf

Consequence: In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.

Remedy: Thor will notify owners, instructing them to contact Kidde for a replacement fire extinguisher, free of charge. The recall began on January 15, 2018. Owners may contact Thor customer service at 1-877-500-1020, or Kidde customer service toll-free at 1-855-262-3540, or online at www.kidde.com and click on "Product Safety Recall" for more information.

I am reporting a serious and repeated safety defect involving Hehr side windows installed on my 2018 Thor Palazzo 36.1 motorhome (VIN: [XXX] ). Multiple operable side windows on this RV have experienced adhesive bond failure between the scissor arm/operator mechanism and the vent glass pane. This has caused windows to partially detach and violently flap while driving at highway speeds. One rear bathroom window completely detached and flew off the RV during highway travel in 2022. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

The Thor motorhome has several windows. The windows they installed are laminated windows, with two panes of glass and a seal or glue which connects the outer glass to the inner glass. The attachment method for the outer glass is ineffective. As a result, the outer glass pane comes loose from the inner and is prone to fall off or fly off at highway speeds. The risk is that the pane could strike another vehicle and possibly cause an accident. Already Thor has replaced two of the window units on this unit around 2021, not under warranty but as…

The EATON Power Distribution Modual P\N A66-05172-00 (S\N 18108065) in my motorhome was in a recall associated with the failed rear tail lights, rear turn signals, brack lights, running lights and failure of towed vehicle lights plug. The modual was repaired as a result of the recall and was working properly. The repaired Modual failed again in less than 1000 miles driven resulting in no passenger tail light, no brake lights, no running lights, and no function of the towed vehicle lights plug. The recall on my PDM P\N A66-05172-00 was not succ…

Driving down the highway and the DEF check engine light came on. It indicated to pull over and shut down immediately. I was on a highway that had long 7% grade hills with minimal places to pull over in arizona mou tain range. I was able to make it home after engine debated. Took to a freightliner dealer and paid 4400.00 to have DEF pump replaced. It turns out that was not the problem. I tried to go on another trip a month later and I hot a low DEF signal. I was told it was a DEF head. Freightliner XCS chassis our having lots of issues with …

WHILE DRIVING THE WIPERS STALLED IN THE POURING RAIN. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER WITHOUT INCIDENT. I WAITED UNTIL THE RAIN SLOWED AND WHEN I STARTED OUT THE WIPERS STARTED WORKING AGAIN. A FEW MINUTES LATER THE STALLED AGAIN AND WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A REST STOP. I WAS DOING ABOUT 60 MPH AND BELIEVE MY WIFE AND I WERE FORTUNATE THAT NOTHING TERRIBLE HAPPENED.
