Owner report 11588225 · 2024-05-11 (May 11, 2024)

I was driving my car at about 25 mph and I was not able to switch gears (manual transmission). I sent the car to the dealer and they told me that the clutch was burnt and I also needed to change the flywheel for a total cost of over USD 6,300. The repair was not covered by the warranty and the car was only under 5,500 miles and under a year of bought. I have read similar cases in the web and I am pretty sure that this is a manufacturing problem. The car is a GR Corolla, which is advertised as a sports car, but the dealer is saying that the car…

Owner report 11620949 · 2024-10-21 (October 21, 2024)

The clutch system on my car is prematurely failing. I understand that it is a wear and tear item. This is not my first manual transmission car. I have been driving vehicles with manual transmissions for over 20 years. The issue I am having now is not normal behavior for a for a brand new car, let alone for a performance oriented vehicle. I first noticed it when the car was brand new with a distinct clutch burning smell. It would come and go and the general community of owners with the same car said it was a normal occurrence. This is my first…

Both front tires on my 2023 Toyota GR Corolla have developed severe inner-edge wear down to the cords, while the rest of the tread remains in excellent condition. This occurred at approximately 14,000 miles. Toyota refuses to address the issue since my car is 11 months old (within their 1 year warranty period) but has 15K miles (outside their warranty period). Local Toyota dealership stated the car has a bad factory alignment which was confirmed by an independent repair shop. Car is available for inspection but I need to get an alignment as well as new tires to keep the vehicle safe.

The contact owns a 2025 Toyota GR Corolla. The contact stated that while driving at night with the low-beam headlights activated, there was a large dark shadow at certain angles, obstructing visibility while driving at various speeds. The shadow disappeared once the high-beam headlights were activated. Upon initial inspection, the local dealer failed to acknowledge the issue. After performing a personal test against a garage door, the contact confirmed the presence of the shadow with both headlight assemblies. The manufacturer was notified of t…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Driving my car normally when, at around 3,800 miles, my car threw a CEL and went into limp mode, while in traffic. I had to pull over safely, immediately shut off vehicle and have it towed to the dealership for diagnostic & repair. The code was the infamous P2C90 Crankcase ventilation leak check engine light code. This has happened over the course of 14k miles, 4+ more times. Each time, the CEL turns on and disables: cruise control, lane assist, blind spot assist, AWD (limp mode) and directly affects driving. I have taken the vehicle back to th…

So, the car turned off all the safety features as a result of a minor emissions issue! Manual transmission having problem going into third gear when putting in the clutch to shift. The vehicle would have a transmission grind noise, and the weirdest thing is the clutch is all the way to the ground when shifting. Vehicle can be a hazard for the road if the vehicle cannot shift properly, leaving a little bit of stall time. especially if the vehicle isn’t being driven hard and just calmly shifting through that grinding noise doesn’t sound too good. Maybe something is wrong with the clutch.
