The van, sporadically, for the entire time we've owned it, lunges forward while depressing the brake pedal while turning into a corner or parking lot, etc. I reported this to the Toyota dealer service department when I brought my van in for the recall. The lunging continues so I brought to the dealer service department again, today. The service representative asked me if I ever drove a Hybrid before, informed me that this lunging is designed into Hybrid vehicles because this is when the battery is getting charged. Van has just over 5k miles. Multiple warnings occurred while at speed on a highway. Primary warning was 'Low Brake Power' and braking became extremely touchy as it seemed to utilize the emergency brake as a backup. This extreme braking is hazardous and could result in an accident caused by braking too quickly - with a possible rear-end collision by traffic to the rear. Additional warnings/malfunctions were listed as well, due to the low brake power: LTA Malfunction (Lane keep assist), Automatic Emergency Brake Malfunction, Parking Brake Malfunc…

We have an rear entertainment center package in our 2022 Toyota Sienna van, when we pull the screen down it completely blocks our rear view due to screen is too big. I am wondering why Toyota didn’t install digital rear view mirror to all trim levels with rear entertainment center, but they automatically install the to limited and platinum trims. To us that is an safety issue, for instance if there is a cop, fire truck or ambulance coming up behind us we wouldn’t see them do to it blocking our view. When the 3rd-row folding seats are down and stored and the breaks are applied suddenly the seat will release and attempt to return a nonstored position. I had a box of water on top of the seat to keep it from moving. Unfortunately when I breaked the box moved and the seat left the stored position and crushed the water bottles. If I had had a pet back there they would have been injured.

The 3rd row seats doesn’t have locks when it folds down so when we hit a bump it just go up and down and during sudden breaking the folded 3rd row seats come up because there is no locks . But all older models of Sienna have the safety lock . It is a simple fix but my new Sienna doesn’t have the major safety lock . During a accident it might come and hit the 2nd row passengers .PLEASE CONSIDER THIS SAFETY ISSUE AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

When decelerating, particularly on hills or into corners, there is an intermittent surge that occurs after the brake pedal has been depressed. On a regular basis when applying the brakes the brake pressure will release causing the vehicle to lunge forward or momentarily stop decelerating. This release of the brake pressure is only for a second but during that time the van will stop or slow decelerating and if you are slow when this happens you will feel the van lunge forward. It has even happened at a stop with the brake applied and the van would move slightly forward as the pressure released and then reapplied. While driving at about 40mph on a city street I complete lost steering, brakes and vehicle control. I suddenly started severely swerving/ spinning. I suddenly had no control over the vehicle. The vehicle threw a bunch of codes at once including: anti-lock brakes malfunction, pre-collision system malfunction, secondary collision brake system malfunction, braking power low, parking brake malfunction. I tried to turn off and restart the car and it did not reset any codes. I have brand new tires on the vehicle and just had an oil change and check u…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

When breaking at a stop sign or light, the vehicle occasionally feels like it surges forward and I'm accelerating instead of breaking. This causes me to push harder on the brakes, which then seem to mechanically engage and then stop the van. Ever since a tire was changed on the vehicle, it has had a recurring error message that states there is a malfunction in the tire pressure monitor system. As such, I rarely know the status of my tire pressure as the system has the malfunction at least 50% of the time. The car has been in service 2x for this issue and they have had it for close to 30 days and driven it all over saying they needed to drive it to make the error go away. They have replaced the sensors on the tire, nothing has worked and the problem still occurs daily.

Brakes release briefly when slowing to a stop. While slowing to a stop with steady pressure on the brake pedal, the braking action will momentarily give out, resulting in the vehicle lurching forward beyond the anticipated stopping/slowing distance before the braking action re-engages. This has resulted in near collisions with cars, bikes, and pedestrians as the vehicle suddenly stops slowing without warning and unexpectedly increases stopping distance. The problem is intermittent and difficult to reproduce, but has occurred repeatedly over …
