While driving my new 2026 Toyota Sienna Woodland Edition home from the dealership on the day of purchase (XXX), I applied routine braking to stop at a yellow light. Both second-row captain's chairs, which had been slid fully rearward and left in the upright position during the dealer's cargo-space demo, and which I assumed had been properly locked, suddenly slammed forward with extreme force into the back of the front seats, and the seatbacks self-folded on impact. Notably, both chairs failed identically and simultaneously, which suggests a sys…

We brought our 2022 Toyota Sienna in for service January 2024 for the driver's seat. The seat would make really loud popping noises that sounded like something was loose when the seat moved forward and backward. We brought the vehicle in, and the service technician discovered that the driver's seat assembly was loose and cracking. The technician removed and replaced faulty components of the seat assembly under warranty. The seat starting having the same issues recently, and we are concerned of an on going safety issue given the instability of t…

The 3rd row seats in the Sienna do not stay stowed as there is no lock. This creates a very dangerous situation when braking. I just got this car a few days ago and already have issues. When I brake or go over bumps, the stowed 3rd row seat pops up a little. That's okay, until you brake. In one instance, I had to brake harder than usual during a traffic incident in front of me, and the 3rd row seats flew forward (up and out of the stowed position) and slammed into the 2nd row seats. It was loud and scary. My child was sitting in the 3rd row (…

Rear foldable seats do not lock down into compartment. They bounce up when you stop just a little hard. Cable has already broken when this occurs. Anything laid on top of these seats when folded will be ejected inside of car. Hitting driver in the head. This is very dangerous. Already brought to dealer and complained and nothing was done. They said that's the way it is. Someone will die if this problem is not taken care of.

We were stopped at a stoplight. As soon as we stepped on the gas pedal, there was a loud clunk sound and plastic parts started flying out from under the car. We immediately pulled over. Oil was spilling out everywhere. The transmission oil pump was laying on the inside of the engine compartment. We had towed to Toyota. They diagnosed a bent piston went through engine which also caused a hole in the transmission. I had it towed for a 2nd opinion. Neither toyota or the 2nd opinion had ever seen anything like it. The sliding doors will shut off after 60+ minutes of being left open. In order to close them afterwards, you must fight with the power closing mechanism which makes it incredibly slow to close. This is dangerous if someone is threatening you and you need to get in your car and close the door. Or if a swarm of bees is coming at you. It takes about 30 seconds to close the door when this happens. Toyota claims this is to save power but this makes no sense as an excuse as the rear. Liftgate can stay open indefinitely without problem.

The center console between the front seats has a design defect. When small objects such as a credit card, key fob, or coin are left on the flat surface of the console, they can slip through a gap into the internal storage compartment. Once inside, the object becomes lodged and physically blocks the console lid from opening, locking the owner out of the storage compartment. The console must be partially disassembled to retrieve the object. This is a design flaw, not operator misuse. The flat surface visually appears usable, and the owner's manu…

While slowing to a stop sign at a normal speed, the 3rd row, which does not lock into place, flew into the upright position. Thankfully it had nothing on top of it, but if it did my children in the second row would have been seriously injured.

Seat height not adjusting is ludicrous and a hazard! My husband is 6'4", my sons, 6'1", they seat height is not safe and braking/turns cause them to hit their heads. This could be life threatening in a real accident. There should be a lower profile seat that could be installed by Toyota. This is not safe!

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
