Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

17V700000 · Electrical System:Wiring

Reported: 2017-11-06 (November 6, 2017) · Model years: 2016, 2017

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain 2016-2017 Speed Triple R and Speed Triple S motorcycles. A wire for the charging system may rub against a bracket for the ABS modulator, potentially resulting in an electrical short.

Consequence: An electrical short could cause the engine to stall, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected wire, rerouting it to avoid contact with the bracket, free of charge. The recall began on December 14, 2017. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SB552.

Reported: 2020-04-28 (April 28, 2020) · Model years: 2019, 2020

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain 2018-2020 Street Triple RS, Tiger 1200 XCx and Tiger 1200 XCA, 2019-2020 Speed Triple S and Speed Triple RS, 2018-2019 Tiger 1200 XRT, Tiger 1200 XR, Tiger 1200 XRx and Tiger 1200 XRx LRH and 2020 Tiger 1200 Alpine Edition and Tiger 1200 Desert Edition motorcycles. The front brake pads may corrode, potentially causing the front brake pad friction material to detach from the backing plate.

Consequence: If the brake pad friction material detaches from the backing plate, it may lengthen the distance needed to stop the motorcycle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the front brake pads, free of charge. The recall began June 26, 2020. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN 579.

THE ISSUE IS INCONSISTEN BRAKING PRESSURE ON THE FRONT BRAKES. WHEN THE FRONT BRAKE IS INITIALLY PULLED THE LEVER FEELS SOFT AND HAS NEARLY AN INCH OF TRAVEL, THEN IF YOU IMMEDIATELY RELEASE THE LEVER THEN PULL IT AGAIN THE BRAKES SEEM TO ENGAGE AT THE CORRECT SPOT IN THE LEVER PULL. I HAVE NO PHOTOS OF THIS AS IT IS OBSERVABLE ONLY BY FEEL. MY DEALERSHIP HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM AND HAS ATTEMPTED TO SERVICE THE BRAKES MULTIPLE TIMES WITH THE SAME OUTCOME.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
