Recall history

2 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

07V562000 · Equipment:Mechanical:Carrier/Rack

Reported: 2007-12-12 (December 12, 2007) · Model years: 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES EQUIPPED WITH AN OPTIONAL ACCESSORY LUGGAGE RACK, UNDERSIZED WASHERS WERE USED WHICH PREVENTS THE SLIDING CARRIAGE FROM MOVING AS INTENDED.

Consequence: REDUCED STABILITY CAN OCCUR IF THE MOTORCYCLE IS RIDDEN WITH THE FITTED ACCESSORY, EXCEEDED MAXIMUM WEIGHT, AND AT SPEEDS FAR IN EXCESS OF THE 80 MPH LIMIT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSPECT THE ACCESSORY RACKS FOR LATERAL MOVEMENT. THOSE RACKS NOT DISPLAYING ANY MOVEMENT WILL BE REPAIRED. THE RECALL BEGAN ON FEBRUARY 8, 2008. OWNERS MAY CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 1-678-854-2010.

13V212000 · Power Train

Reported: 2013-05-21 (May 21, 2013) · Model years: 2012, 2013

Triumph Motorcycles (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Speed Triple ABS motorcycles manufactured June 2012, through January 2013. The transmission on some motorcycles may have been built with an incorrect detent spring.

Consequence: As a result of the incorrect spring, the transmission may inadvertently shift out of gear while the motorcycle is moving, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will install a revised detent spring, free of charge. The recall began on June , 17 2013. Owners may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010 for more information.

THE HEAD LAMPS ON MY TRIUMPH TIGER 1050 2007 MODEL ARE INADEQUATE FOR SAFE NIGHT RIDING TO SAY THE LEAST. THE BEAM PATTERN IS GREATLY INFERIOR TO WHAT A BIKE OF THIS STYLE SHOULD BE EQUIPPED WITH. CORNERING ON DARK ROADS AT ANY SPEED ABOVE 30 MPH IS SCARY AND NOTHING SHORT OF TURNING INTO A BLACK HOLE. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME UNTIL THIS DESIGN INJURES OR KILLS SOMEONE. TRIUMPH NEEDS TO RECALL THIS HEADLAMP REFLECTOR AND REPLACE IT WITH A SAFE ALTERNATIVE. MANY OTHER MOTORCYCLES OF THIS CLASS DO NOT SUFFER THIS DEFICIT AND IT NEEDS REMEDIED.…

I RIDE A 2007 TRIUMPH TIGER 1050 BUT NOT AT NIGHT ANY MORE. THE FRONT PROJECTOR LIGHTING IS VERY POOR AND CAN BE DANGEROUS ON CORNERING BECAUSE THE BEAM DOES NOT REACH THE END OF THE TURNS WHERE ONE SHOULD BE FOCUSING. THE MAIN BEAM IS ALSO PATHETIC EVEN AFTER HAVING THE ALIGNMENT CHECKED. THIS DEFECT IS IT SEEMS PREVALENT AMONGST TIGER RIDERS AND COMPLAINTS TO TRIUMPH HAVE BEEN IGNORED. INTERESTINGLY, THEIR NEWLY ANNOUNCED SPRINT GT IS NOT USING A PROJECTOR BEAM BUT REVERTS TO A REFLECTOR DESIGN. PERHAPS THEY LISTEN BUT DON'T RECALL AN…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
