Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

04V156000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Delivery:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2004-04-07 (April 7, 2004) · Model years: 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004

ON CERTAIN MOTORCYCLES, THE FUEL CONNECTOR LINKING EACH OF THE FEED AND RETURN FUEL HOSES TO THE FUEL PUMP MOUNTING PLATE MAY FRACTURE FOLLOWING IN-SERVICE HANDLING.

Consequence: FUEL COULD ESCAPE FROM THE FRACTURED BODY OF THE CONNECTOR ONTO THE ENGINE OR SIDE OF THE BIKE. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, CAN RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CONNECTOR. THE RECALL BEGAN ON JULY 30, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 1-678-854-2010.

99V083000 · Engine And Engine Cooling:Engine

Reported: 1999-04-15 (April 15, 1999) · Model years: 1999

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. OIL CAN LEAK FROM BETWEEN THE CRANKCASE HALVES.

Consequence: THIS CAN RESULT IN OIL SPILLAGE FORWARD OF THE REAR TIRE AND COULD, IN SOME CASES, CAUSE VEHICLE INSTABILITY.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE LOWER CRANKCASE BOLTS.

00V312000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage

Reported: 2000-10-11 (October 11, 2000) · Model years: 2000, 2001

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. A FUEL LEAK COULD OCCUR FROM THE FUEL LEVER SENDER LOCATED INSIDE THE FUEL TANK.

Consequence: IF THIS CONDITION OCCURS IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, POSSIBLY COULD RESULT IN A FIRE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL SENDER.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
01V339000 · Power Train:Clutch Assembly:Pedal/Hand Lever(Motorcycle)

Reported: 2001-11-02 (November 2, 2001) · Model years: 2000, 2001

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: MOTORCYCLES. THE CLUTCH CONTROL CABLE CAN FRAY AND FAIL. THE BARREL AT THE END OF THE INNER CABLE SEIZES IN THE CONTROL LEVER BORE, THEREBY STRESSING THE INNER CABLE.

Consequence: THIS CAUSES THE RIDER TO BE UNABLE TO ENGAGE THE CLUTCH, INCREASING STOPPING DISTANCES AND INHIBITING DRIVING CONTROL.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLUTCH CABLE. OWNER NOTIFICATIONBEGAN JANUARY 25, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TRIUMPH AT 678-854-2010.

NHTSA campaign record ↗
14V009000 · Electrical System:Software | Fuel System, Gasoline:Fuel Injection System

Reported: 2014-01-15 (January 15, 2014) · Model years: 2012, 2013, 2014

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Tiger Explorer ABS A1 and 2013-2014 Tiger Explorer Spoke ABS XC A1 and Trophy SE A1 motorcycles manufactured November 17, 2011, through December 16, 2013. In the affected motorcycles, the electronic control unit (ECU) hardware and software may improperly detect the motorcyle's throttle position resulting in the motorcycle shutting down.

Consequence: An unexpected shutdown increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will update and install new ECU hardware and software, free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2014. Customers may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010.

STALLING OCCURS WHEN DISENGAGING THE CLUTCH WHILE DOWNSHIFTING, AS FUEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM DOES NOT MAINTAIN PROPER, MINIMUM IDLE. NO POWER AVAILABLE WHEN RE-ENGAGING THE CLUTCH. THIS IS AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS CONDITION ON A MOTORCYCLE, AS UNINTENDED ENGINE BREAKING WHILE ENTERING INTO A CURVE CAN OCCUR, LEADING TO A CRASH IF THE CLUTCH IS NOT IMMEDIATELY DISENGAGED BY THE RIDER. 1. What component or system failed or malfunctioned, and is it available for inspection upon request? Component that failed was pivot plate, Triumph part T1194900. I have the defective part. 2. Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.
