Recall history

4 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

13V223000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly

Reported: 2013-05-28 (May 28, 2013) · Model years: 2012, 2013

Triumph Motorcycles Ltd, (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2012-2013 Trophy and Trophy SE motorcycles manufactured September 2012 through March 2013. The two layers used in the construction of the fuel tank may have failed to adhere, which may result in a fuel leak.

Consequence: If the fuel tank leaks, the unexpected fuel loss may lead to an engine stall while riding, increasing the risk of a crash. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source may also result in a fire.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel tank. The recall began on June 7, 2013. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-888-283-5288.

12V592000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 2012-12-11 (December 11, 2012) · Model years: 2013

Triumph Motorcycles (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2013 Trophy motorcycles manufactured from September 5, 2012, through November 29, 2012. These motorcycles were produced with a label bearing incorrect tire data which fails to conform to the labeling requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 120, "Tire Selection and Rims for Motor Vehicles Other Than Passenger Cars," and they fail to comply with the certification requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Consequence: Owners relying on the information contained in the label may install incorrect replacement tires, increasing the risk of personal injury.

Remedy: None of the affected motorcycles have been sold to consumers and they will be repaired prior to sale. Therefore, an owner notification letter will not be issued for this campaign. Owners may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010 for more information.

14V009000 · Electrical System:Software | Fuel System, Gasoline:Fuel Injection System

Reported: 2014-01-15 (January 15, 2014) · Model years: 2013, 2014

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain model year 2012-2014 Tiger Explorer ABS A1 and 2013-2014 Tiger Explorer Spoke ABS XC A1 and Trophy SE A1 motorcycles manufactured November 17, 2011, through December 16, 2013. In the affected motorcycles, the electronic control unit (ECU) hardware and software may improperly detect the motorcyle's throttle position resulting in the motorcycle shutting down.

Consequence: An unexpected shutdown increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will update and install new ECU hardware and software, free of charge. The recall began on January 24, 2014. Customers may contact Triumph at 1-678-854-2010.

20V150000 · Engine | Electrical System:Wiring | Service Brakes, Hydraulic:Foundation Components:Hoses, Lines/Piping, And Fittings

Reported: 2020-03-17 (March 17, 2020) · Model years: 2013, 2014

Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD (Triumph) is recalling certain 2013-2017 Trophy SE A1 and 2013 Trophy SE A1 Launch motorcycles. The ignition switch wiring may be damaged due to the improper routing of the front brake hose, possibly resulting in inoperable headlights or taillights or an engine stall.

Consequence: A sudden loss of vehicle lighting or an engine stall increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will inspect and reroute the brake hose, as necessary, free of charge. The recall began April 13, 2020. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010. Triumph's number for this recall is SRAN574.

THE DAY AFTER BUYING MY BIKE, IT COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN ON ME 4 TIMES IN SUCCESSION WHILE RIDING. FIRST ON A SURFACE STREET AT ABOUT 30MPH, THEN ON THE FREEWAY AT 65-70MPH, THEN TWICE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY AT LOW SPEED JUST TO GET IT HOME (ALL ON THE SAME DAY). THE DEALER INFORMED ME THIS BIKE HAD BEEN SUBJECT TO A RECALL INVOLVING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE ECU PRIOR TO MY BUYING IT, AND THAT THE REPLACEMENT HAD BEEN COMPLETED. AS OF 7/7/2014 THE DEALER STILL HAS MY BIKE, AND HAS NOT DETERMINED THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM AFTER DOING, IN THEIR…

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
