Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

01V079000 · Vehicle Speed Control

Reported: 2001-03-09 (March 9, 2001) · Model years: 2000, 2001

VEHICLE DESCRIPTION: VAN CONVERSIONS MODELS BUILT ON FORD 138" E-350 CUTAWAY CHASSIS WITH 5.4L AND 6.8L GAS ENGINES WITH AFTER MARKET FAST IDLE CONTROLS INSTALLED. THESE FAST IDLE CONTROLS WERE IMPROPERLY INSTALLED, CAUSING THROTTLE CONTROL MALFUNCTION.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW BRACKET, VACUUM SOLENOID, AND HARDWARE TO A NEW LOCATION THAT DOES NOT HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO INTERFERE WITH THE FUNCTION OF THE OEM THROTTLE ASSEMBLY. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN MARCH 1, 2001. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT TURTLE TOP AT 1-219-831-4340.

04V149000 · Structure:Body:Door

Reported: 2004-03-24 (March 24, 2004) · Model years: 2002, 2003, 2004

ON CERTAIN BUSES, THE ELECTRIC DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY HANDLE (LEVER) COULD POSSIBLY BREAK WHEN PULLING ON THE HANDLE FOR EMERGENCY RELEASE TO OPEN THE SIDE ENTRY/EXIT DOOR.

Consequence: THIS COULD CAUSE THE HANDLE TO BREAK RESULTING IN PERSONAL INJURY TO OCCUPANTS EXITING THE VEHICLE.

Remedy: DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY HANDLES. OWNER NOTIFICATION IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN APRIL 8, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT TURTLE TOP AT 1-800-296-2105, EXTS 181 OR 131.

24V356000 · Seats

Reported: 2024-05-21 (May 21, 2024) · Model years: 2024

Turtle Top is recalling certain 2024 Van Terra, Terra Transit, Odyssey, and Odyssey XL vehicles, equipped with certain GO-ES Space Saver Foldaway Seats. The recliner mechanism may not engage when the seat back is fully reclined. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Consequence: The seat back could release when force is applied to the shoulder belt, increasing the risk of injury during a crash.

Remedy: Turtle Top will work with the equipment manufacturer, Freedman, to inspect and repair the seats as necessary, free of charge. Owner notification were mailed June 21, 2024. Owners may contact Turtle Top customer service at 1-800-296-2105.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
