Recall history

5 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

88V194000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Filler Pipe And Cap

Reported: 1988-12-20 (December 20, 1988) · Model years: 1988, 1989

SEAL BETWEEN FUEL FILL TUBE AND FUEL TANK MAY ALLOW A SLOW GASOLINE LEAK.

Consequence: IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE THIS COULD RESULTIN A FIRE.

Remedy: INSTALL A REDESIGNED FILL TUBE WITH A LONGER TUBE LENGTH, TO BE INSERTED FARTHER INTO THE TANK, WHICH WILL ASSURE A POSITIVE SEAL BETWEEN TUBE AND FUEL TANK.

90V059000 · Suspension:Rear

Reported: 1990-03-23 (March 23, 1990) · Model years: 1988, 1989

WELDED CONNECTION BETWEEN THE AXLE TRAILING ARM AND THE INNER TRANSVERSE AXLE BAR COULD FAIL.

Consequence: THIS COULD AFFECT OPERATOR'S ABILITY TO CONTROL THE VAN AND COULD RESULT IN AN ACCIDENT.

Remedy: INSTALL A REDESIGNED REAR AXLE AND REALIGN REAR WHEELS.

93V123000 · Suspension:Front

Reported: 1993-07-21 (July 21, 1993) · Model years: 1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993

THE TWO REARWARD FRONT SUSPENSION FRAME MOUNTING BRACKETS CAN FRACTURE.

Consequence: IF THE FRACTURES OF THE MOUNTING BRACKETS GROW IN LENGTH,HANDLING CHARACTERISTICS OF THE VEHICLE CAN CHANGE. IN THE EVENT OF A COMPLETEFRACTURE AND SEPARATION OF BOTH MOUNTING BRACKETS, LOSS OF STEERING CONTROLAND AN ACCIDENT CAN OCCUR.

Remedy: INSTALL A REINFORCING BRACKET WHICH "GLOVES" EACH OF THE TWO REARWARD BRACKETS OF THE FRONT SUSPENSION.

90V143000 · Fuel System, Gasoline:Storage:Tank Assembly:Mounting

Reported: 1990-08-06 (August 6, 1990) · Model years: 1989, 1990

FUEL TANK MOUNTING STRAPS MAY ALLOW MINOR AMOUNT OF SHIFTING BY FUEL TANK IN A REAR END CRASH WITH FUEL LEAKAGE IN EXCESS OF AMOUNT ALLOWED BY STANDARD.

Consequence: VEHICLES WOULD NOT MEET REQUIREMENTS OF FMVSS 301; IN THEPRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, FUEL LEAKAGE COULD RESULT IN A VEHICULAR FIRE.

Remedy: RETROFIT VEHICLES WITH FUEL MOUNTING STRAPS OF ORIGINAL DESIGN.

91V073000 · Latches/Locks/Linkages:Hood:Latch

Reported: 1991-05-02 (May 2, 1991) · Model years: 1990, 1991

THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH CAN RELEASE WHEN VEHICLE IS DRIVEN IN THE CONDITION OF HIGH WIND GUSTS. THE PRIMARY HOOD LATCH FAILURE WILL ALSO CAUSE THE SECONDARY HOOD LATCH TO FAIL SIMULTANEOUSLY.

Remedy: REPLACE DEFECTIVE PRIMARY AND SECONDARY LATCH MECHANISMS WITH A LARGER SPRING ON THE PRIMARY LATCH, AND A REDESIGNED CATCH ON THE SECONDARY LATCH.

Emerging complaint spikes

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.

No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Equal-age model-year comparison

Model-wide cumulative reports during the first three or five calendar years, starting with the model year (age 0). Only fully elapsed windows are compared.

Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
