WHILE RIDING MY 2005 PHANTOM CHOPPER ON THE HIGHWAY, THE DOWN TUBE CRACKED. NOT THE WELDS. THE FRAME. I WAS ABLE TO STOP THE BIKE. AFTER CONTACTING MANUFACTURE I SENT HIM PICTURES. HE BASICALLY TOLD ME ITS NOT HIS PROBLEM. I HAD THE BIKE TOWED TO A REPUTABLE SHOP AND THEY SAID THE DOWN TUBE SHOULD BE THICKER WITH LARGER GUSSETING OR SUPPORT RODS BECAUSE OF THE RAKE OF THE CHASSIS. IF FRAME CRACKED ALL THE WAY THE FRONT FORKS WOULD HAVE RIPPED MY HEAD OFF. THE BIKE IS NOT LISTED IN YOUR SELECTION. IT'S A 2005 PHANTOM CHOPPER. MODEL DEVASTATOR 30…

Recall history
1 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.
07V495000 · Structure:Frame And Members:Underbody Shields
Reported: 2007-10-22 (October 22, 2007)
ON ONE MOTORCYCLE, THE FACTORY-INSTALLED WELDED GUSSET PLATE CONNECTING THE FRAME BACKBONE, NECK, AND DOWN TUBE IS MISSING.
Consequence: AS A RESULT, ADDITIONAL STRESS WOULD BE PLACED ON THE WELDS CAUSING RAPID WEAR AND POSSIBLE JOINT SEPARATION. FRAME SEPARATION OF THE NECK, DOWN TUBE, AND BACKBONE JOINTS COULD CAUSE THE DRIVER TO LOSE STEERING AND CONTROL OF THE BIKE, POSSIBLY RESULTING IN A CRASH.
Remedy: THE OWNER HAS BEEN CONTACTED AND HIS MOTORCYCLE HAS BEEN REPAIRED.

Emerging complaint spikes
Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.
This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
No complete months meet the spike thresholds for this selection.

Date coverage across each selected cohort
| Year | Incident dates used | Filing date fallbacks | Excluded dates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2005 | 1 | 0 | 0 |
Incident date is preferred when valid and no later than filing; otherwise filing date is used. Model year approximates age. Equal observation time does not adjust for sales, distance driven or reporting delays. One complaint linked to multiple model years can appear in each cohort.
