THE 2018 ACURA MDX HAS WINDSHIELD DISTORTIONS AFFECTING VISIBILITY AND CAN LEAD TO DIZZINESS RESULTING FROM VISUAL VERTIGO. IMAGES SEEN THROUGH THE OUTER EDGE OF THE WINDSHIELD ARE DISTORTED. STRAIGHT LINES (ROAD BARRIERS, LINES ON THE STREET, FENCES, CURBS, ETC) APPEAR BENT/CURVED. OBJECTS ALSO QUICKLY MAGNIFY AND THEN REVERT TO NORMAL SIZE CAUSING BLURRYINESS AS WELL AS AFFECTING THE ABILITY TO DETERMINE ACCURACY OF OBJECT PLACEMENT AROUND YOU WHEN DRIVING. THE WINDSHIELD IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD PUTTING DRIVERS AT RISK FOR ACCIDENTS.…

10 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

18V221000 · Seats

Reported: 2018-04-05 (April 5, 2018)

Honda (American Honda Motor Co.) is recalling certain 2018 Honda Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles and 2018 Acura MDX vehicles. The front driver and passenger powered seats in the Honda vehicles and the driver powered seats in the Acura vehicles may have been assembled with improperly manufactured rivets. In the event of a crash, the rivets can break causing the seats not to be secured to the floor. As such, these vehicles may fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 207, "Seating Systems," and 210, "Seat Belt Assembly Anchorages."

Consequence: In the event of a crash, if the seat does not remain secured to the floor, the seat occupant has an increased risk of injury.

Remedy: Honda will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver seat frame assembly in Acura MDX vehicles, and replace the driver and front passenger seat slide rail frames in Honda Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles, free of charge. The recall began May 30, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall is D0S, and T0T.

The rear brake caliper pistons may have an insufficient coating, causing gas pockets to form, reducing brake performance. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."

Consequence: A reduction of braking performance increases the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Owners will be notified, and Honda or Acura dealers will bleed the brakes, free of charge. The recall began December 11, 2018. Owners may contact Honda customer service at 1-888-234-2138. Honda's numbers for this recall are C31 and L30.

The vehicle makes noise while shifting from Park to Reverse to Drive. Transmission fluid and oil fluid leaking while I had driven only 450 miles. Had reported the issue to the Service Department. They informed that since the engine is new it will take a while for the transmission gear to quiet it down. They can't find any leakage for the first two times when I brought the vehicle for them to inspect. Their Service Manager was able to identify the issue and assigned the technician to trace it down. The auto start/stop system failed to restart at a stop light. This was an issue on the older MDX and TLX vehicles with the 3.5L V6 which resulted in a large recall. The recall has not been extended to cover the 2025 MDX and the dealership is refusing to fix the issue or acknowledge it despite having a video to prove it occurred. Acura is knowingly selling these vehicles with a dangerous safety defect that will occur at random. Please consider investigating this matter further as I am concerned for my safety and the safety of my passengers.

The vehicle has experienced an acceleration hesitation issue on a number of occasions. When I depress the accelerator from a stop and take my foot off the brake the vehicle does not respond. If I take my foot off the accelerator then depress it again all the way to the floor the vehicle after 3 or 4 seconds will lunge forward. In an intersection this "stall" may cause a collision with another vehicle. This has happened on a number of occasions but fortunately no accidents yet. I have taken the car to the dealer on no less than three times fo…

This is my first luxury car. Ever since I bought the car in 2019, I noticed that sometimes when I press on the gas pedal, it takes a little time for the car to move. I just assumed it was normal. Never owned an Acura before. Two weeks ago and a week ago, I also got into a car accident. The first time was when I was entering the freeway. I see the cars on the freeway coming from my left side. They were far enough form me enter the freeway safely. I pressed the gas pedal to speed up so I could enter the freeway. I pressed on the gas pedal…

This car has repeatedly had issues with delaying to take off when I touch the gas pedal. Once the pedal is depressed there is a long delay before the car actually moves. Two days ago as I was driving at around 35mph all warning lights came on and the car started jerking as it was trying to slow down or stall. I was able to get back to my home luckily I was only up the street and was able to drive under 30mph and had to pull off the road several times because it kept jerking almost as if someone was repeatedly slamming on the brakes. I had a mec…

MULTIPLE TIMES I HAVE BEEN TRAVELING ON THE HIGHWAY AND MY CAR WOULD SUDDENLY DECREASE IN SPEED AND STALL OUT. I WOULD GO FROM 75MPH TO 45MPH VERY QUICKLY. IT WOULD THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATE AGAIN AND GO BACK TO NORMAL. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND COULD LEAD TO A DEADLY ACCIDENT.

6 MONTHS AFTER DELIVERY OF MY VEHICLE I STATED NOTICING A JERKING WHEN MY TRANSMISSION SHIFTS. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE DEALER INDICATING MY CONCERN. When trying to accelerate after braking the vehicle has a MASSIVE hesitation where it just sits there doing nothing literally for a solid second. Not only being very frustrating it's IMO very dangerous. If I'm at a yield and then need to merge quickly, if I'm getting on a highway from a parking lot, if I'm trying to switch lanes in traffic, etc etc the vehicle just bogs down and does nothing for that 1-2 seconds. Drive the vehicle normally, apply the brakes and then right away take your foot off the brake and accelerate. You don't have to mash…

My daughter was able to get out and take her 3 year old son out of his carseat and run for their lives as the car completely became engulfed in flames.Thank God they made it out alive. I submit this complaint because my 2018 Acura MDX, covered under NHTSA recall 23V-751 for connecting-rod bearing defects, has suffered progressive engine damage and final engine failure that I believe was caused by the manufacturer’s recalled defect and by the dealer/manufacturer’s failure to timely perform the recall repair.
