Owner report 11748134 · 2026-07-03 (July 3, 2026)

Driving in the mountains on I-70 in Colorado, the check engine light came on indicating an emission issue. The vehicle would only go a 27 mph in a 65 mph zone. I had to drive in the right lane with semis and other vehicles passing me. I got to the dealer and they are saying the the DEF injector/dosing module (injects urea into the exhaust stream ahead of the SCR catalyst) had failed. This component Needs to be added to the recall list. This is a very dangerous situation and the dealer says he has replace many before. Under the Dieselg…

Recall history

3 distinct campaigns affect this selection. Announcement dates below are different from vehicle model years. A campaign may cover multiple years.

20V391000 · Suspension:Multiple Axle

Reported: 2020-07-02 (July 2, 2020)

Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain model year 2020-2021 Airstream Atlas and Interstate motorhomes equipped with VB suspension systems. The lock portion of the countersink bolts attaching the VB Suspension system to the vehicle may be too long preventing the panhard rod bracket from fully contacting the springs, resulting in bolts absorbing the load instead of the bracket.

Consequence: If the bolts carry the load rather than the bracket, it can cause them to break, affecting the vehicle handling and increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Airstream will notify owners, and dealers will replace the suspension bolts, free of charge. This recall began August 26, 2020. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505.

21V275000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 2021-04-21 (April 21, 2021)

Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2020-2021 Interstate vehicles. The Federal Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) may have incorrect occupant cargo carrying capacity weight listed. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 120, "Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars" and 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification."

Consequence: The operator may overload the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Airstream will notify owners, and provide a new label, free of charge. Owner letters were mailed June 10, 2021. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

23V772000 · Equipment:Other:Labels

Reported: 2023-11-17 (November 17, 2023)

Airstream, Inc. (Airstream) is recalling certain 2019-2024 Interstate 19, Interstate 24, Interstate 24X, Rangeline and Atlas motorhomes. The Federal Certification Label and Tire Placard may indicate incorrect tire pressure and tire size. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard number 110, "Tire Selection and Rims."

Consequence: Incorrect tire information can result in under-inflated tires or installing the incorrect-size tires, increasing the risk of a crash.

Remedy: Airstream will mail corrected labels, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed December 15, 2023. Owners may contact Airstream customer service at 1-877-596-6505 or 1-937-596-6111 ext. 7401 or 7411.

THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED TO ME IN 2014 AND I DIDN'T THINK MUCH ABOUT IT UNTIL RECENTLY TALKING TO OTHER OWNERS OF THE AIRSTREAM INTERSTATE WHO HAVE HAD SIMILAR OR WORSE INCIDENTS. THAT KNOWLEDGE CAUSED ME TO FILE THIS BELATED REPORT SINCE CURRENT AIRSTREAM INTERSTATES HAVE THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS INCIDENT HAPPENED ON THURSDAY 3/13/2014 WHILE DRIVING FROM GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK TO VISIT FRIENDS IN NEW MEXICO. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AT A SCENIC LOOKOUT SPOT THAT HAD A LOT OF VERY ROUGH PAVEMENT. I ROLLED SLOWLY OVER ONE PARTICULARLY BAD SPOT…

There is an open recall NHTSA #21V042 that no dealers in Colorado can repair until March 2022. Parts are available but they claim to be book through March due to all the current recalls. This is a safety issue since wet conditions can cause the sensor to disable the electronic stability control. This is on a 4x4 vehicle that will be used during the winter in Colorado. I would like to have an authorized Mercedes repair facility do the repair since the dealer is not able to accommodate a reasonable timeline.

Complete months in the latest six months with at least 10 complaints, at least twice the preceding 12-month average, and at least three square-root deviations above that average.

This is a descriptive screening rule, not a statistical defect finding. Publicity and reporting changes can increase submissions.
